ONE // Candy Craving
I had a random candy craving earlier this week so stopped by the mall on my way home from work. I raided the aisles at the pharmacy and was pleased to browse the Easter selection. Last year, I had really enjoyed these candy-coated marshmallow candies but had yet to find them this year. Well, it must have been a sign because I found the exact ones I remember enjoying! I grabbed a bag and a few other gummy treats while I was there. I can't get enough of the texture of these candy-coated marshmallows! The colours are bright and the flavours are so artificial, but that's just what I like about them, ha ha! The apple, grape and lemon ones are my favourites but I love them all. I always have a soft spot for marshmallow candies and these just hit differently! Maybe it's because they are exclusively an Easter offering, but I'm so happy I found them again this year. Craving crushed!
TWO // Powder Blue Satin Skirt
After being pleasantly pleased with my first satin midi skirt purchase last fall, I thought it was time to add a new colour to the rotation - powder blue! I'm trying to pick colours that I don't already have in my wardrobe. I got a deep plum shade in the fall and have worn it so many times already. This style of skirt is very easy to dress up or down, making it a versatile wardrobe piece. I'm hoping this light blue will be a go-to for this spring-summer. I strongly suspect this light shade of blue will be everywhere this summer, not unlike butter yellow reigned supreme last year. I've already had my eye on a few light blue pieces and am thinking this is the year to add this colour to your wardrobe if it's one you like. The options of apparel and accessories in this colour will abound. Keep your eyes peeled!
THREE // Nature Appreciation
I know I've been droning on and on about the weather lately, but that's how it goes in Canadian spring... The winter to spring transition is a rough one with lots of ups and downs. That being said, these odd weather phenomenons and temperature swings do create breathtaking landscapes. With the longer days providing beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the bright blue skies against the stark white snow and shimmering ice is picture perfect. This was the morning after a warm rainy day followed by a drastic drop in temperature and a snowfall overnight. I stopped dead in my tracks to admire the beauty!
FOUR // Crochet Headbands
My mom has been a busy bee lately. She used to crochet way back in the day and recently picked it up again as she's been spending lots of time taking care of my grandma. She says it's a great way to pass the time and I find that amazing. I'm happy she found a way to keep her hands and mind busy. That being said, she's been making a bunch of crochet knot headbands. Everybody is getting a handmade headband these days. I ended up getting a surprise box in the mail with this lovely array of options! I have a few knitted headbands that I enjoy wearing in the winter. They are the ultimate accessory to keep your ears warm while wearing your hair up. I'm sure I'll get the chance to test them out before the season is over!
FIVE // Five Years of Caramels
This week, I want to shout out my favourite little caramel shop for five years in business! I discovered Pickle & Myrrh in August of 2021 and have been a fan ever since. This little pink shop is located in Merrickville, Ontario. We love going to the town for day trips and always enjoy the little shops, small-town vibes and nearby locks. Since that fateful day, I've been addicted to Erin's homemade soft caramels! Some of my favourite flavours are the Sea Salt Caramels, the Pretzel Caramels, the Caramel Apple Caramels and the Pumpkin Spice Caramels. However, I have yet to try every flavour because the genius caramel maker keeps coming up with seasonal flavours as tempting as the next! Oh, also a special mention to the caramel sauce, which is literal nectar of the gods! I love how joyful and inviting the shop is and Erin is such a ray of sunshine and positivity! Here's to many more years in business to this local gem!
