Mimi Takes Five - #364

ONE // Cookies
I haven't made a sourdough bread in a little while, but I'm still feeding my starter and using discard every once in a while. My most recent foray was discard chocolate chip cookies. My mom's friend traded discard recipes with me! I decided to test out this cookie recipe and it's a winner! I got creative and used half semi-sweet and half white chocolate chips. The cookies were quite sweet (but that might be down to the brown butter). The only thing I noticed is that using starter means the cookies spread less when they bake. For that reason, I would pat down the dough balls a bit before baking and I tried to balance the sweetness with a little sprinkle of salt on the top of each cookie. I'll definitely be making these again, so tasty!

TWO // Pet Carrier
I never thought I'd be that person, yet here we are... My little geriatric dog can't handle as much walking as she once could. We also like to travel with her, which means some days can be long and involve crowds. She'll request to be carried when tired of antsy. We've found ourselves more than once commenting on how practical a carrier would be in certain moments. So we bit the bullet and got one! We got to test it out a few times this weekend and it's a game changer! On the one hand, the dog actually seems to enjoy it and be comfortable. She'd let us know if she wasn't! I find the carrier to be comfortable and she sits in it in at a very similar height then when she's in my arms. I searched high and low to find a carrier that fully enclosed her and had safety precautions built in. A thick strap was a must and the storage pockets are very practical. I can't believe I'm saying this, but this was the best purchase in a long time!

THREE // Big Smile
I was mindlessly scrolling the other day when I came across this video. It instantly made me laugh and totally brightened my mood! From what I can tell, it was a just-because craft project of making a life-sized Forky from Toy Story. That's it, that was the goal. The video walks you through the entire process. Not only is the result absolutely spot on and impressive but the creator has the most infectious laugh! The essence of this video is just about having fun and making something just for the fun of it while enjoying the entire process. I thought I'd share it here in the hope of spreading more infectious joy!

FOUR // Gingham Dress
I just had the urge to get a new blue gingham dress lately. I've had one in my closet for a few years, but it's a bit snug at the moment, so I decided to peruse Poshmark on the hunt for an update. Well, my search was successful when I happened upon this classic button-front J. Crew dress in my size! That was a sign that it was meant to be. It arrived and I'm in love with it! I like that the print is larger and the silhouette is classic. I'll be able to wear this for years to come because it fits in perfectly with my preppy-feminine style. It's also another baby blue piece I get to add to my wardrobe. I love this shade of blue and wear it a lot during the warmer months. I love finding second-hand clothing that matches my search criteria perfectly!

FIVE // Happy Gilmore 2
If you grew up in the 90s, there's a good chance you've seen some (if not all) of Adam Sandler's classic movies. I think I've seen them all, but Happy Gilmore was popular in my house - my dad and brothers watched it on repeat! I mean, the premise of a wannabe hockey player becoming a golf pro and winning enough money to buy back his grandma's house is as kooky as it sounds, yet manages to be endearing at the same time. My husband and I recently rewatched the original in anticipation of the sequel and found it just as funny as we remembered. My husband even quoted some of the lines, lol! We loved the new one, which sticks to that classic mix of touching and outright ridiculous scenes. It's classic Adam Sandler and I'd say the 30-year wait was worth it! I also appreciate how most of the original cast was included in the sequel and a slew of other famous faces. It was such a fun and hilarious watch!
