ONE // Lunch Box
I was needing a new lunch box lately. While I loved my old one, the inside lining was falling apart and the leather finish on the straps was disintegrating. I don't remember exactly when I got it, but I'd had it for a solid eight years. I held on to it even though it was on its last legs because I'm very particular about what I want in a lunch bag. We happened upon this taupe one at Homesense the other day and I decided to take a chance on it! I want the base of the bag to be wide enough that I can lay my plastic container flat in the bottom and have room on the side for my coffee mug. Basically, I want a big open space so that I can stack plenty of snacks and containers. I'm also looking for longer, sturdy straps that I can carry on my forearm if need be during my commute. I also want the lunch bag to be sturdy and somewhat weather proof. A nice colour or design is a bonus. This taupe neoprene lunch bag with straps and dual zipper seems to fit the bill. It also came with an ice pack and four containers. It's really starting to feel like September and back-to-school now!
I recently got this round tufted velvet cushion to add to our living room décor. The room is mostly blues with warm brown and wooden elements but I add hints of orange here and there to give it a bit more pop. It's an unconventional colour palette but I love the mix of cool tones and warm tones. I find it gives the space a certain coziness. I knew the minutes I saw this round cushion on sale that it was going to be the perfect addition for my everyday décor. The velvet fabric and deeper orange shade really contribute to the warmth of the space. I just might keep it out for the fall season too because it will go perfectly with the rest of my autumnal pieces.
THREE // Slides
I've had these canvas slides for years now. I recently dug them out and was reminded how much I love them! They are comfortable and a perfect neutral that can pair with literally any summer look. They are casual enough to go with denim shorts yet stylish enough to pair with a sun dress. What's not to love? I'm all for a versatile shoe and these slides are a perfect alternative to everyday flip-flops. They are as easy to wear as flip-flops but are a much more fashion-forward option. I also love the hint of cognac! I'll be wearing these on repeat until summer comes to a close.
FOUR // Barn Jacket Crushes
Around this time last year, I became a little obsessed with the humble barn jacket. The trend was cycling back and I was really taking notice. I mean, I've been aware of barn jackets for a long time but never viewed them in a stylish way. To me, they were more of a working style - function over fashion. By the time I decided I wanted one, I had missed out... Well, the trend is sticking around for this fall and there are so many good options out there! We are really spoiled for choice this year and each option is as great as the next. I had a hard time deciding on which one to get and had to stop myself from buying multiples. However, I did get one and I can't wait for it to arrive!
FIVE // Blood of My Blood
The new Outlander prequel series has officially begun and I am obsessed! The first two episodes were released on the premiere date and I couldn't be more excited about it. I was only expecting one episode so the second one was a real bonus. My eyes were glued to the screen from the first scene and I can't remember the last time I watched a show with such undivided attention. We are back in the Scottish Highlands and the original Outlander vibes and settings are giving. The first episode focuses on Jamie's parents (Brian and Ellen) while the second focuses on Claire's parents (Henry and Julia). I loved this format so much! But that is not to say Claire's parents don't feature at all in episode one... The breadcrumbs and links are already making my head spin and I can't stop seeing theorizing in the fandom. The energy and excitement about this show is very much alive and well. I'm coming to this show with a fresh view because there is no book (yet) to refer to. However, we are treated to familiar settings and characters. I can't wait for episode 3! Also, I heard that filming on season 2 has already begun, so hopefully the turnaround is a bit quicker than it's been for Outlander...
