Mimi Takes Five - #351

ONE // Fresh Hair
I colour my hair, have been for years now. I found the colour I like years ago and have been sticking with it. It's a smidge darker and warmer than my natural colour. I've gone very blond and had reddish tones in the past but this is the colour I find to be the most me. I get my roots done every few weeks and get maintenance trims for healthy hair. However, once a year I get the full colour redone as it fades over time. I tend to like doing this in the spring - it's the perfect refresh! While it's the same colour as my roots, I find it looks darker when I get it refreshed. It's the most basic of transformations yet feels like a big change. I feel like a new woman!

TWO // Baby Shower Gift
It's been a hot minute since I've been to a baby shower, but our friends are expecting in June so I attended the shower last weekend. We met down south last winter and decided to get away together again this past February. We became fast friends and are thrilled for them! My go-to gift for a baby shower is to assemble a basket of essentials. I always start with a plastic storage bin of some sort as I find it's a useful thing to gift new moms. Because, you know, with babies comes lots of stuff! This time around I found this adorable Lego-top bin, I mean, how cute? I decided it was so cute in fact that I would wrap the contents from the inside. I filled the box with a cute outfit (inspired by baby's dad's personal style), a baby nail clipper, some baby Tylenol, a set of long-handled spoons, a berry feeder, some snazzy sunglasses and a book for baby's library. My husband suggested the Jungle Book and I thought it was a great classic to have for a little later. I try to think of the little things that can often be overlooked but that end up being handy when the time comes.

THREE // Night Out
We went out to dinner with cousins we hadn't gotten to spend time with in a little while. We planned it a month or so before and only checked in the day prior to finalize the plans and pick a dinner spot. I love when people stick with plans! We landed on a Turkish restaurant and had an absolute feast! We got a big variety platter to share along with stuffed grape leaves and pide, also to share. Everything was absolutely delicious and the flavours were popping! It was so nice to get to sit down and catch up without the usual interruptions of big family gatherings. We had such a good time, we already made plans to do it again!

FOUR // G&G Signature Satin Collection
Oh, this collection is a good one! If you are looking for elevated hair bow options, do not sleep on the Grace & Grandeur's signature satin collection! The perfect pastel shades of pink and blue, along with a bright white, are the most elevated shiny satin bows out there! I'm a huge fan of the matte satin G&G bows but there is something so gorgeous about the new shiny satin offerings. Let's not forget the dramatic silhouette line-up! How extra are the Sophia and Bailee? If you are entering your Austen-era spring, these bows are for you? Romanticize your life a little!

FIVE // Backyard Reading
Spring is finally here and it's time to reopen the backyard. There always seems to be a never-ending list of things to do to get the yard ready in the spring, but the beautiful weather is enough motivation to get it done! We took down the boat tempo last weekend and took out some of the patio furniture. My husband is working on beautifying an unused corner of our yard, so hopefully we'll have another little nook to spend time in. For now, I get to reconnect with my outdoor reading routine. I've always loved reading outdoors because there is something about reading in nature. And I've been doing a lot of reading lately, so adding another reading spot to the rotation is just what I need to keep going!
