TBT - Showing Off my Stripes

I am definitely experiencing more nostalgia than ever when doing these throwback pictures. I don't know if this top survived, but I know it was a very unique piece. That's what made me fall in love with it! It is a high-low top in an animal print. It's a fun, expected cut in a somewhat timeless print. Surprisingly, I had found many different ways of styling it and really hope I will get to wear all of those pre-planned outfits one day. I do happen to know that the pictured necklace is unsalvageable... The pop of coral really brought a nice does of colour to the look. I kept the other elements neutral and the look came together effortlessly. I happen to remember I had a bit of a happy hour get together with old colleagues the day I wore this. It makes for a happy memory!

TBT - Peachey Keen

I personally think the colour peach looks best on sun-kissed skin. I know that in my case, it washes me out... Today's look is a throw-back to an easy top and shorts combination. Nothing super special going on here. I would say it's a very basic colour-blocked look. Peach on top and black on the bottom. Simple enough. The lace layer on the top gives it dimension and interest while the jewelry adds the perfect finishing touches. The basic straight-cut of the Bermuda shorts is a perfect match for the peplum. Neither competes with the other. Sometimes, it's too hot to think in the summer and all you want is to put together a simple outfit without too much fuss. I suggest pre-planning a couple outfit options with Bermudas for those days you couldn't be bothered to think.

TBT - Short Slither

Nudes and neutrals are huge right now, so I figured I'd throwback to an outfit that is right on trend. Black bermudas are an office summer stable in my book. Just trade your dressy black pants for shorts in the hotter months and call it a day. I paired the shorts with my snakeskin top and taupe short-sleeved blazer. I decided on an off-white belt to really delimit the top from the bottom. I like the contrasting effect it has on the look. The same principle could be applied to wearing a black belt with white shorts. Try pairing your nudes and neutrals into an outfit with interest and dimension. It is possible!

Short and Sweet

Sometimes there is no need to over complicate things. Pairing a simple shirt with a pair of black Bermudas is a tried and true combination. I opted for a vintage-y floral print t-shirt and added a gold double pendant necklace that picked up on the gold in the sandals. Easy dressing gets you out the door quicker, so go ahead and keep it simple.

The Long and Short

In my book, if shorts are to be worn in a work environment, they should be no shorter than bermuda lenght. I also believe they should be paired with a modest-neckline top, as to not show too much skin. These are my personal guidelines and are not set in stone. By all means, do as you please! I paired my work-appropriate shorts with a bright pink hibiscus-print tank and white wedge sandals. I love the pop of colour in this print and love the tropical vibe it gives off. This is a high-low tank because the back is longer than the front. These types of tops are very comfortable in warmer climates because they are not overly fitted and allow for the breeze to cool you off! Just be careful your top does not fly up in blustery weather!
