There are a few style icons that I have come to admire through time. They’ve inspired me on my style journey and I’ve come to relate to them in different ways. My very favourite, and the one I most relate to, is Audrey Hepburn. To me, she is a classic beauty. I don’t say that solely based on her fashion sense, which was impeccable, but based on her poise. She could pull anything off because of the way she confidently let her natural features shine. She also favoured simple lines and clean cuts.

“Why change? Everyone has his own style. When you have found it, you should stick to it.”

 – Audrey Hepburn

A classic designer and fashion-forward thinker was Coco Chanel. She was a strong and determined woman who knew what she wanted and went for it! Determination is a very admirable quality, especially at a time when she was going against social norms. We can surely credit her with the timeless Breton stripe tops, which happen to be a staple in my wardrobe. Thanks Coco!

“Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.”

– Coco Chanel

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis has also left her mark in a stylish way. She had a simple way of dressing, but it always made a statement. She had class and elegance, two qualities all women should strive to achieve. Fabulous sun glasses and pearls are her legacy. Nobody has ever done pearls like Jackie O!

“Pearls are always appropriate.”

– Jackie Kennedy

Moving from class to sex appeal. Something can be learned from the biggest sex symbol of the twentieth century. Yes, I’m talking about Marilyn Monroe. Although the woman did not have an easy life, she managed to find her signature style, which has now become legendary. I love that Marilyn embraced her curves! She also did not shy away from a bold red lip. Now, her style might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the key to her style was the confidence she exuded. Confidence is key, if you are confident, you can rock anything.

“Your clothes should be tight enough to show you're a woman, but loose enough to show you're a lady”

– Marilyn Monroe

Last but not least, Emma Watson is a current style crush of mine. She always looks effortless and never disappoints. She’s not afraid to experiment with cuts and textures and does not shy away from statement pieces. She can pull off an elegant look with as much ease as she can pull off an edgier one. She stays true to herself and goes with what she likes. Most importantly, I get the feeling she has fun with her look. Style and fashion should be fun, don’t take it too seriously!

“There's nothing interesting about looking perfect—you lose the point. You want what you're wearing to say something about you, about who you are.”

 – Emma Watson

These are just a few select style inspirations. The world is chalk full of them! Hopefully, I will be able to inspire you along your style journey! Once again, welcome to my blog and enjoy the ride!
