Wild Neon

Bold meets wild! The picture does not do this skirt justice, the orange is a lot brighter in person. Think of an orange highlighter. It is that bright! Instead of taming the jarring colour of the skirt, I decided to pair it with a wild print. One thing to note is that animal prints can be treated as neutrals. Yes, they are busy patterns but are nonetheless neutrals. When you think of it, this is the animal's skin tone in the wild... I finished of the look with a matching set of bangle, necklace and earrings. I was sure feeling the sense of adventure today!

White Hot

The monochromatic look is having a moment right now. I opted to wear white from head to toe, but went for a pop of colour with the handbag. When an outfit is entirely comprised of one colour, it's important for the individual garments to have detail and interest. This will ensure the outfit is not boring or lackluster. I chose to wear a white crop top under a sheer blouse and chose shoes with an ankle strap to keep things interesting. Although this outfit is simple, it is definitely not lacking dimension!

Afternoon Tea

One of the things I enjoy almost as much as clothes is tea! I can't get enough of the stuff! So I thought to myself, why not go for Afternoon Tea? The activity pairs two of my favourite things, I mean other than snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes... I decided to go all out and break out the pearls and lace. I simple cut dress with a lace overlay is a timeless look. Going with a deep teal colour adds an air of unexpectedness. I kept the accessories simple and neutral. Yes, gold is a neutral colour, all metallics are. Most importantly, I felt elegant and spent a wonderful afternoon sipping tea and eating finger sandwiches.

Colour Blocking

Cobalt, turquoise and magenta, oh my! Bold colours make a statement! Mash a few bold colours together and you get a mega statement! Colour blocking is the wearing of multiple solid colours in the same outfit. The method is as simple as stacking a few different coloured lego blocks together. Pick at least two bold colours and wear them together! Let your creative juices flow, it's really simple. I chose a palette of cool colours for today's look, sticking to similar shades for the most part of the outfit and topping it off with a pop of colour of a different shade. Simple, yet striking!

Down the Rabbit Hole

I often get inspired by the activity I will be doing when I style an outfit. In this particular case, I was going to the Alice in Wonderland ballet. I figured, why not get inspired by some of the classic characters of the story. The result turned out to be a mash-up of Alice and the White Rabbit. Colours and key elements from both characters can be found in this outfit. I thought it was perfectly on pointe for the occasion! ;)

TBT - Spring Strole

Today's Throwback Tursday is an outfit I wore this past Spring. I like dressing for those in-between seasons because I love layering! It's like you get to wear more than one outfit per day. How cool is that? The "inside outfit" was an edgier take on the plain white T with a black bottom. I decided to wear a graphic T paired with a black mini skirt and black nylons. Throw on some pearls and cute booties and you are good to go! For the "outside outfit" I just added a leather jacket and a scarf to keep chills at bay in the crisper air. In this outfit, the scarf is the magic piece that brings it all together. The grey from the booties, the pink from the handbag and the purple from the jacket can all be found in the scarf. Adding this last element instantly harmonized the outfit!

I went out to dinner the other night to celebrate my anniversary. Seeing as it was a twelve-course meal, I felt a more formal attire was required. I opted for a white crop top with a black flared midi-skirt. I feel crop tops are not always obvious to style, but you can't go wrong by pairing it with a high-waisted garment. It's all about playing with proportions, if the top crops up, so should the bottom! Seeing as I was showing a lot of skin on the top half, I wanted to keep it more conservative on the bottom. I accessorized with all black to make a statement.
