ONE // Roch Voisine
My mom, sister, friend and I went to the Roch Voisine concert last week and we had the most fabulous time! I love organizing girls' nights and getting tickets for a show - we all love a good performance! It makes the perfect excuse to actually plan to get together. I grew up on Roch Voisine's music, so when my mom said to buy tickets, there was no hesitation. She said to buy four before we even knew who we'd be inviting yet, ha ha! She's like secure the tickets and we'll plan the rest later. The show was so good - the energy was electrifying and it brought back floods of nostalgia. We used to belt every song together during long car rides and I was surprised by how many lyrics I still remembered! We sang and danced to our hearts' content and vibed to those familiar songs all night long. I ended up getting a signed record, of which there are limited copies.
TWO // Hill House Summer
The biggest drop of the year has happened this week. Hill House always launched their summer collection this time of year and it's usually the biggest one - just in time for summer weather! I must say, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with this year's collection because there are so many offerings. There are countless prints and just as many different dress silhouettes as well as separates and sleepwear, not to mention accessories! Oof, it's a big one. I have to say I'm loving some of the prints, but they are not on the dresses I want. Such is the dilemma. The three prints that caught my eye are the pink and blue sweet pea, and the brown gingham. I'm a sucker for gingham but would have preferred brown options for fall. I'm also trying to branch off from Ellies and am eyeing the pink Seraphina...
THREE // Bow Hat Box
I was wandering in Homesense the other day, as one does, when I came upon the biggest stash of hat boxes! I have an extensive hat collection and my husband had scoured the city to get me a few hat boxes one Christmas. He had done a great job and I absolutely love my hat boxes! However, I've somewhat run out of room for my precious toppers so I was thrilled at finding this bow-adorned hat box. Isn't it precious? I mean, the bow lattice pattern is so me I could not have designed a better box myself. I've loaded it up and have added it to the top of the armoire on which the others are perched. I love that hat boxes can double as an eye-catching display. Fashion that doubles as décor is peak intersection of my interests!
FOUR // Running Shoes
I finally had to accept that I needed to get some new running shoes this season. I've had the last pair for at least two running seasons and they are dead. I was pushing it off because I know that the style I prefer is no longer made. I thought I'd struggle finding a replacement pair. I was at Winners last weekend and decided to check the shoe section, just in case. Well, I happened upon this pair of New Balance running shoes. This is my preferred running shoe brand, they were in my size and I was loving the colourway. I tried them on and had a bit of a jog in the store. I found them to have good arch support (which is what I struggle to find because of my high arch). They were half-price so I figured I'd give them a try! I love it when you go to Winners looking for something specific and it delivers! It's a big win!
FIVE // The Gilded Age - Season 3
I was really hoping we'd get another season of The Gilded Age and I got my answer this week! We're getting a third season and I'm thrilled about it! The best part is that we won't have to wait long because it's premiering on June 22, 2025! I think I rather hear about a new season just before it releases, the having to wait years can be brutal at times (I'm talking to you Outlander...) I can't wait to delve back into New York of the Gilded Age with the old and new money societal dynamics at play. Will Bertha finally win over Agnes in the opera wars? I must say, I love the character of Mrs. Van Rhijn - her one-liners rival the Dowager Countess' in Downton Abbey! I can't wait to see which new historical figures make an appearance this season because I love seeing them brought to life. This will be a perfect watch while I wait for the third and last Downton Abbey movie coming this fall. I keep thinking and hoping we see a crossover with Cora from Downton because she was, after all, a Dollar Princess.
