Mimi Takes Five - #426

ONE // Maple Leaf Sweater
It's no secret that I love a seasonal graphic sweater. I had been eyeing this maple leaf one for a couple years and finally decided to treat myself. I love that it's a design of the maple leaf in its full autumnal glory! The colours speckled throughout the rest of the sweater also add to its charm. I knew this sweater would fit seamlessly in my fall wardrobe and I was so right! I must say, as great as it looks on the screen, it looks even better in person. It's a lighter weight that my other knitted KJP sweaters but I love that for layering possibilities. I cannot express just how much I adore this new fall sweater. It's tied in the top spot for me with the pumpkin fair isle. I mean, they are both such great sweaters!

TWO // On the Way to the Wedding
I have finally finished reading the Bridgerton series - all eight books! What a ride it has been. I love hunkering down with a meaty series, it lets me get fully invested in the world and characters while taking the guesswork out of figuring out my next read; at least for a little while! The last book of this series focused on Gregory's love story. While he is not the youngest of the siblings, he is the youngest male and last to marry. If you thought this last book would be a mild one, think again! I think it was the book with the most action and the quickest timeline. There were many twists and turns, and we come to find out Gregory has an impulsive side. I do love the relationship between Hyacinth and Gregory. It's the sibling duo we got to see grow up in the series and they have a great bond. I really did enjoy this book and would place it in my top ranking. I'd say my favourite books were Colin's, Eloise's, Hyacinth's and Gregory's. The other four were just fine, in my opinion. The series as a whole is decent, and while I enjoyed it for what it was, I'm not sure it's one I'd return to for a second read. That being said, I am looking forward to how the show interprets the next four stories as I think they did wonders with some of the stories. Now, it's on to some spooky season reads!

THREE // Autumn Walks
This is my most favourite time of the year to go for little walks. There is magic in the air and the scenery changes day by day. As the air cools and the sun shines brightly, the leaves change colours and the little critters are busier than ever. I just can't get enough of taking in the sights and I usually have my trusty furry companion with me. My four-legged friend also really loves a fall nature walk for the crunchy leaves and all the smells! Speaking of smells, I adore the scent of fallen leaves in the fall. I keep trying to find a word that describes that specific scent and came across rummescent and I think it works! I wish I could bottle that scent up, there's something so grounding and calming about it. I'm really making the most of my fall walks and taking it all in!

FOUR // Fall Bath Bombs
It took a while to get here, but bath season is finally back! I had stocked up on some old favourites and new bath bombs in anticipation. I love soaking in the tub to really relax and take a breather. It's all part of the little self-care things I do for myself. To me, taking a bath is like a little treat so it makes sense to get myself little bath bombs to make the entire experience into a ritual. Besides, the scents are all part of the therapy! I also enjoy the process of shopping and selecting my bath bombs. I love browsing the displays and smelling every bath bomb and bubble bar along the way. It's always a bit hard to narrow down my selection but I think I ended up with great variety this season. I couldn't pass up the classic pumpkin and ghost - those are non-negotiables. I then fell for the candy apple because it smelled great and looked cute. Finally, I landed on the sparkly pumpkin because you can't have too many gourds and then I fell for the variety pack of autumn leaves! How could I not? I'm now looking forward to more baths as the weather cools.

FIVE // North of North - Season 2
I'm so happy there's a second season of the show North of North! This show is a real gem. I love that we have more and more Canadian content that is truly representative of our vast country and cultures. The second season starts right where we left off, following Siaja and her quest to better her life post-divorce. We are back in the small Arctic town where everyone knows everyone and their business. I can't get enough of the small town shenanigans, witty one-liners, amazing wardrobe and breathtaking scenery. This show is well made and I love seeing true representation on my screen. Stream the entire show on CBC Gem!
