Mimi Takes Five - #13

ONE // Poppy Dress
Yet another floral dress. But this one is special, I swear! I've never owned anything poppy print before, so there's that. Also, I find it a perfect floral for fall because of its association with Remembrance Day. I think it will look great styled with tights and a black blazer and can even be worn all through December too because of the red. It's also a really great (affordable) replikate option for this Alexander McQueen dress the Duchess wore a couple years ago. What's even better is that I got mine on clearance so it was a fraction of the cost of the designer options. I do love me some sartorial dressing!

TWO // August Ipsy Haul
It's that time of the month when my Ipsy glambag arrives! Although I'm not the biggest fan of the pouch itself this time around (I find it a bit plain and I don't love the colour), the contents are great! I'm always down to try a new mascara, I like duo blushes and love the burgundy cream eye-shadow! That shade is perfect for fall and works so well with my dark brown eyes. I can't wait to wear it! I'm a little bummed I didn't get the darker burgundy shade of the lip gloss, but the golden hue is actually quite nice and I think will layer well over my browner lipsticks for fall. I also was not the most excited about getting a lip balm, but I have to say the texture of this one is awesome! I always make sure to keep a lip balm on my bedside table to put it on before bed and this one will do the trick! All in all, it was a good haul!

THREE // Maple Leaf Brooch
I've recently rediscovered my passion for brooches. Early last spring, I called my mom and asked her if she would be willing to part with some of her brooches and she was more than happy to let me raid her collection. Nothing like vintage brooches from mom, you can't beat that! I love that I remember her wearing most of these brooches and it gives them even more sentimental value. With a few precious heirlooms, I started a collection of my own. This past weekend, on our date day, I came across this precious maple leaf brooch. It immediately made me think of the one the Queen wears. It is by no means as fancy as hers, but it makes for a great repli-queen! I also like how it's neutral, making it a perfect touch to any look.

FOUR // Dr. Pimple Popper
Ok, time for a big confession: I'm a popaholic. It runs in the family. I get it from my mom's side. My grandma and aunts all get a kick out of popping pimples and the likes. Gross, I know. But I can't help it. I get so much satisfaction when I get the little buggers! Anyways, I was a little ashamed of it over the years, that is until I stumbled across Dr. Pimple Popper's Instagram a few years ago. I had found an entire community of fellow popaholics! I can't explain it, but I am always drawn to her videos and stories and just can't get enough! Being such a huge fan, when I heard Dr. Lee was getting her very own show on TLC I knew I'd be watching it religiously! It's everything I've ever dreamed of! I definitely feel less weird and alone in my habit now that the show is shedding light on it. Hopefully it becomes more socially acceptable to talk about one's blemishes.

FIVE // Bride Clutch
With the whole ''getting married" thing, I knew I needed this clutch in my life! The best part is that I got it on clearance. Double-win! It's a clear lucite box clutch with a lace lining and bold glitter lettering on the front. It literally screams "bride" and I love it! It will be the perfect accessory to all of my bridal-related looks in the coming months. This is the only time in my life I can get away with carrying such an accessory, so I'm going to milk it for what it's worth!
