Mimi Takes Five - #12

ONE // New Sunnies
So, a couple weekends ago we went to the lake. It was a happening place seeing as the weather has been so hot. We decided to jump in, off the dock. Sounds like an easy enough plan, right? My fiancé jumped in first, then it was my turn. Now, I think it's important to mention that I am one of those people who "ease" into the lake. I like to take my time. Since that was not an option today, I was standing on the dock trying to psych myself up to jump in. I take the plunge and only then did I remember I was wearing sunglasses... I literally felt them float off my face and they were long gone by the time I surfaced. Not my finest moment. A few of the kids nearby tried to dive and recover them, but it was too dark and too deep. Oh well! It's a good thing they were cheapy sunglasses. What cheered me up a bit was that the week before, I had lucked out and found a pair of Quay ones at Marshalls and they were marked down to $12! At least I had a new pair waiting for me at home, so all's well that ends well.

TWO // Red Blouse
I've been having a colour crush on red lately and have been adding a lot of red pieces to my wardrobe. I fell in love with this light, sleeveless red blouse from Banana Republic. It is perfect to wear now and will be a great layering piece later on. I can totally picture myself wearing it throughout the upcoming holiday season! It will be something to add to my roster for the #indecemberwewearred challenge! I'm still not sure whether I will do it again this year, but here is the hashtag for those who want to check out my posts from the last couple year.

THREE // Book Binding Workshop
I was lucky enough to participate in a bookbinding workshop at work and it was all kinds of amazing! It's yet another crafty outlet that is a mash-up of two of my other crafty passions: sewing and scrapbooking. I am lucky enough to work with a visual artist who does some on the side and she gave us a glimpse into the magical world of bookbinding. I enjoyed every minute of it and it totally sparked a wedding-inspired idea for me. To be continued...

FOUR // Boîte à bonbons

I am a candy-lover. There, I said it! I have a particular sweet spot for sour candies. The more sour, the better! Candy always gets my attention, so I just had to give this subscription box a try! I did not sign up for the monthly box just yet, because I wanted to test it out first and see what the hype was all about. I chose the gift box option and selected the sour mix. The delivery was speedy and let's just say that receiving a box of candy is the best kind of mail there is! Not only was I impressed with the service and the packaging, but that candy itself is out of this world! I am not stranger to luxe candies (poke Sugarfina and Squish), but these guys are in a league of their own. The gummies are so fresh and the flavours so intense, yet not fake-tasting. I am truly impressed and will definitely be getting more! These boxes would make an awesome gift for any candy-lover!

FIVE // Victoria
A lesser-known fact about me is that I am fascinated with the British Royal Family. I'm not sure where that started, but they've always interested me. My interest definitely peeked in the run-up to Will and Kate's 2011 wedding and I've been following Kate's style ever since. All that to say that I am always on the lookout for historically-inspired TV series and more-so those of royal interest. I finally got around to watching the first two seasons of Victoria and I totally binge-watched them! It's about the reign of Queen Victoria. The series was giving me Downton Abbey vibes with the upstairs/downstairs story lines and to the The Tudors, with all that royal court drama. The third season is due to come out at Christmas this year and I can't wait! I highly recommend it to fellow royal-watchers!
