Mimi Takes Five - #319

ONE // Leaf Blanket
I had "fall blanket" on my list of things to add to my fall decor for a year or two now. I was leaning towards getting an autumnal-coloured plaid blanket. However, I knew the minute I clapped eyes on this leaf one in store that it was the one! The reds, golds and oranges are the perfect fall hues and the softness is beyond compare! It's the perfect throw to drape on the couch arm and snuggle under to watch cozy movies in the evenings. I love a useful thing that also adds to my seasonal décor. I could not have thought up a better design, honestly!

TWO // Cinnamon Rolls
It just wouldn't be fall if I didn't bake my famous cinnamon rolls now, would it? We are well and truly entering baking season and I got a big bag of flour, so I'm ready! This bake was actually a special request from a colleague for their birthday, so I obliged. Besides, I like eating them too! When I was sampling the finished product (like any good baker would do), I was reminded just how much I love these things! They are the perfect warm, soft, gooey, cinnamon-y, sweet treat I could ever hope for. They are dangerously delicious!

THREE // Striped Shirt
I love a good button down. They are great layering pieces and can be worn so many different ways. A versatile wardrobe staple, to say the least. I'm leaning into the more oversized silhouettes this fall and got this red striped shirt. I love that the hue is deeper and a little faded, making it look like it could be anything from brown, to red to purple even. Also, the longer fit means it will layer well under sweaters and blazers. You want that hem to peek out! I've worn it a couple times so far and am loving the more relaxed feel.

FOUR // Fresh Hair
I get my hair done every twelve weeks or so, but felt I really needed it done after the summer. I always find summer to be the hardest on my hair with the heat, humidity, sun, sweat, chlorine and travelling. After a while, it takes its toll! My roots were really bad so I was very pleased to be getting that taken care of. We also did a little maintenance trim on the ends to liven them up a bit. It just felt great to get my hair pampered because it hadn't felt this good in a while now!

FIVE // Tap Class
I used to tap dance as a kid and took a long break before I found a tap-dancing community in my adult years. I took up tap dancing classes again in 2015 and have been taking them on and off since then. The scheduling lined up perfectly for me this fall, so I signed up again! I had my first class last week and it feels great to be putting on my tap shoes once more. While class was super fun and high-energy, I do need to brush up on a few things. This is your reminder to sign up for that class you've been meaning to take. You can keep doing fun things and things that bring you joy as an adult!
