Mimi Takes Five - #340

ONE // Heart Cardigan
The purchase of the season for me was this adorable red and pink heart cardigan sweater. It's the most perfect Valentine's sweater without being overly kitschy. Not only is it perfect for February, but I can see myself finding other ways of styling it off season. I mean, hearts can be a year-round print, right? I think the colours would transition very well into spring. This particular sweater is ever so soft and the chunkier fit makes it a very comfortable option. I can style this on its own or layered for versatility. It could also easily be dressed up or down. Make it a bit more formal with a fit and flare skirt or tone it down with jeans and flats. I'm so happy I didn't sleep on this sweater!

TWO // Winter Walk
I haven't gone on as many walks lately and was really feeling the pull. It was a beautiful sunny winter's day and the timing felt right. I decided to bundle up and go to my favourite trail in the woods. I love this little spot so much! It really transforms with every season and it brings me so much joy to be in nature (as much as I can in the suburbs). The winter trail is unique in its brightness and bare trees. The completely white ground is clean because the snow is less disturbed overall. Nature is so magical in its wintery blanket of snow and ice. The ravine and waterfall where just as breathtaking! I really needed a nature walk and it felt great to reconnect with nature and get some fresh air to clear the cobwebs.

THREE // Lots of Love Nap Dress
Ever since I missed out on the Valentine's Day capsule last year, I'd been thinking of a heart-print Nap Dress. When I saw the sneak peeks of this year's capsule, I knew I had to get in on that! I love a heart print! Did I need another Nap Dress? No. But this Ellie had the red stitched contrast smocking, which I don't have on any of my other dresses. This difference alone justified it in my book. I was even more sold on it when I found out it was lined and still had pockets. Now, I know some people don't wear heart prints other than in February. I'm not one of those people. I plan on getting lots of wear out of this dress from spring to summer! It would be so cute for Easter with a blush cardigan or even Canada Day because it's basically red and white. I mean, I will find occasions to wear my heart dress other than for Valentine's Day!

FOUR // Loveuary Line-Up
Just like at Christmas time, albeit on a smaller scale, Hallmark treats us to a wonderful line-up of feel good movies for Valentine's Day. In fact, the entire month of February is dedicated to the theme of love and romance - and lovingly referred to as Loveuary. While the programming as all love, all the time, there are four new releases this month. I really enjoyed watching An Unexpected Valentine starring Lacy Chabert (a favourite) and Robert Buckley. The premise of the movie veered off from the predictable format and I welcomed the different take on the theme. It was such an endearing story! Lucky for us, we have two more movies to look forward to before the month is over. There's no time limit on love, why should there be one for movie about love? Happy watching!

FIVE // Red Bow Cardigan
This adorable knit cardigan is another find during my birthday shopping spree. I've been loving bow details on sweaters lately, so this one really spoke to me. I mean, the tiny red bows are embroidered and it's got jewel buttons. There couldn't be a more "me" sweater! My husband saw my face light up when I spotted it and he agreed it was totally my style. I had also spotted one with hearts instead of bows in a different size. I tried on both and luckily the bow one was a perfect fit. While it's a cropped sweater, the sleeves are long enough for me. This is unusual as the sleeves on most tops are usually too short for me. I guess I have long arms. I'm really thrilled with this find and got to wear it in the runup to Valentine's Day. While it's a perfect sweater for this time of year, I can see myself wearing it on repeat. Bows are a year-round theme!
