Mimi Takes Five - #342

ONE // Vacation
My husband and I escaped to Mexico last week for a little winter getaway. We went to Paradisus La Perla with a couple we met on vacation last year. While we both experienced challenges regarding travel to and from, we ultimately had a great vacation! The resort was amazing and the service was excellent. We've never had such personalized and attentive service. My husband and I lucked out and got an ocean-view suite. We both got up early one morning to catch the sunrise - magical! We took advantage of the included activities such as a cenote visit, chocolate-making class and hydrotherapy circuit at the spa. We enjoyed amazing meals and took advantage of the ice cream stand as much as possible! Other than one rainy/overcast day, the weather was spectacular. It's always great to escape mid-winter for a little sun and relaxation. We are now ready to face the final weeks of cold.

TWO // Fave Books
The last goodies of my birthday shopping spree are these two books. I wasn't looking for books but can't resist browsing a book shelf when I happen upon it. Well, I got sucked in with these gorgeous covers of my favourite books - they are practically collector's editions. I was obsessed with both Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden growing up. I'm pretty sure this fact has come up once or twice on the blog over the years. I've been resistant to rebuild my home library since the fire in 2016. It was not on the list of priority replacements so I never really got around to it. However, I could not resist the beauty of these particular editions and they happen to be very high up on my list of personal favourites, so I got them! Guess I'll add them to my to-be-read pile (even though I've already read them multiple times).

THREE // Snow Happy
We went from sand to snow without missing a beat this past week. We made it out a few times to take our snow-loving pup for some fun-filled walks. She might be tiny, but she's an outside dog at heart. No matter the season, she's always down for a little strut outdoors, especially in some fresh powder! She bounces around like a little rabbit and just can't get enough of the snow. It's really the most endearing things! She usually bundles up in her snowsuit, but it was mild enough out today to just go without. Besides, she's due for a grooming so is at her fluffiest at the moment. We just make sure to dry her off and get all the little snow balls out of her fur when she gets home. She is a pampered pooch, after all!

FOUR // Mystery Tea
David's Tea has finally revealed the flavour of the Mystery Tea! I have been watching this entire campaign closely and was awaiting the reveal with bated breath. When the tea was released in early October, I rushed to my local David's Tea to smell it and buy a bag to sample. I've got a pretty good nose and had guessed from early on that it was Strawberry-Kiwi Cream of Earl Grey (I've got the receipts to prove it!) After smelling and tasting it, that was my guess. Well, what do you know? I was super close! It's officially Strawberry Cream-Kiwi. I mean, I got pretty close, right? This was such a fun little tea(se) from David's Tea and I loved the entire saga. And I still have plenty of the tea to enjoy - probably more so now that I have the satisfaction of having guessed it almost right.

FIVE // Heart-Print Blouse
I know Valentine's Day has come and gone, but Ricki's (one of my favourite Canadian stores) is closing and I've been stalking the website for sales. I spotted this ruffle collar heart-print blouse and knew it was a need. It's no secret I like a heart print and wear said print to my heart's content, no matter the season. What I love about this blouse, other than the print, is the ruffled collar, placket and cuffs. This will make it a perfect layering piece to pair with sweaters and dresses. I love blouses that have those details because they are not lost when layering. I didn't get to style it for Valentine's Day this year, but I'm already envisioning it with my heart-print cardigan! But for now, I'm going to focus on styling it for spring.
