Mimi Takes Five - #341

ONE // Swimsuit One
You know that feeling of never finding a swimsuit when you are specifically looking for one? I'm very familiar with that feeling, so I make sure to buy swimsuits when I find good ones. Well, that was the case during my birthday shopping spree the other day. I was not looking for a swimsuit but I spotted this one and decided to add it to the try-on pile. I didn't have high hopes, but decided to try it on anyways. To my surprise, it fit perfectly and the print and design were so totally in my wheelhouse. The V-neck with ruffled sleeves, the lace-up back and great coverage had me speechless. Even under the unflattering lights of the change room, this swimsuit was winner! Seeing as we were going on vacation in the coming weeks, it seemed meant to be! I love when things work out!

TWO // Seashell Purse
My love of straw bags runs deep. I've really got a soft spot for this natural material and find straw bags to be the perfect option for warm weather styling. I also happen to love bags with whimsical designs. Believe it or not, I'd been on the lookout for a seashell shaped straw bag for years now. It's very niche and specific, I know. That being said, my jaw dropped when I spotted this one at Ricki's (act fast, sadly Ricki's is closing all their stores...) just before the holidays. It was an immediate add-to-cart moment. I did not think twice about it! I love that it has the beaded handle but also the cross-body chain, making it super versatile. I knew it would be the perfect bag to bring on vacation with me. I'm just over here living out my mermaid dreams!

THREE // Polka Dot Jumpsuit
It's been a hot minute since I've worn a jumpsuit. I actually like them - they are as comfortable and easy to wear as dresses, with the added coverage. The ultimate one-and-done outfit! The only downside is using the restroom... IYKYK! That being said, I was looking for something navy to bring on vacation and knew I'd found just the thing when I saw this polka dot ruffled sleeve jumpsuit. I mean, it checked all the boxes! Easy to pack, easy to dress up or down and just the right lightweight fabric for a hotter climate. Besides, I already had enough dresses on the packing list. Trying to branch out a bit. It also fit in nicely with the rest of my colour palette for the trip. Capsule wardrobe packing is where it's at!

FOUR // Book Sleeve
I was intrigued when I first heard of the concept of a book sleeve. It's basically a protective sleeve you tuck your book in to protect it in a bag while travelling. I tend to use Ziplocks because I'm always fearful of getting my book wet or of folding pages inadvertently in a tote or purse. I love the idea of having a dedicated padded sleeve for protection purposes. I had spotted some at Indigo last fall but I didn't love any of the sleeve designs. So, I told myself I'd keep checking for one I like. Well, that day came and I loved the dark blue Book Club design. It so happens that I was planning a trip soon and would be putting my sleeve to good use. I love how I can easily access my book from my bag without worrying about damaging it along the way. It's the small things that make me happy!

FIVE // Swimsuit Two
Before my birthday shopping spree (and finding the above-mentioned swimsuit), I had already treated myself to a new swimsuit in anticipation of our vacation with a Christmas gift card. I had settled on this floral one-piece suit from La Vie en Rose. I loved the ditsy floral pattern, the silhouette and the colour palette. Having an hourglass figure, I know that cut-out details at the waist suit me, so this swimsuit would work. I'm also a fan of the fit and quality of La Vie en Rose swimsuits. They are constructed for women and always offer great support and a great selection of patterns and styles. So now I have two new suits to throw in my suitcase!
