Mimi Takes Five - #387

ONE // Festive Doormat
We spent new year's at my parents so my mom gave me my Christmas gifts at that point. Well, I'd say she knocked this one out of the park! How perfect is this doormat? She could not have found a more perfect design for me! I mean, the buffalo plaid check, the Hallmark movie reference, the candy canes and my husband runs on coffee - I mean, it's all there! This is exactly how my house is run in December. I don't know where she found this gem, but it sure makes me smile. I can't wait to put it out during the next festive season.

TWO // Corriedale
I was not paying close attention to the run-up of this week's epic soap crossover Corriedale, but I did notice more hype in the last week or so. From what I could tell, two long-running British soaps were going to have a crossover episode and the two fictional worlds would collide. I was intrigued. My one and only soap is Coronation Street. I've been watching religiously for so many years I've lost track. That being said, I did catch a few episodes of Emmerdale here and there but never got into it. However, story lines from both soaps have been ramping up to this cataclysmic joint episode. I made sure to watch the two separate episodes to the run-up main event and was in for a real treat! I'll admit I didn't catch all of the Emmerdale details, but I got all of the Corrie ones! That's what I love about soaps, they can still make for great television and Corrie tends to do these intense episodes every now and then. In time, I hope we see how many more threads will come of this joint episode. I mean, talk about world-building! I don't want to give away any details but this was definitely newsworthy television.

THREE // Christmas Mug
Along with the festive doormat, my mom had also tucked this festive mug into my present pile! My aunt had given me a similar one a few years ago and it has been one of my favourites. Sadly, the design is fading because I use it so much... How perfect is it then that my mom gifted me a replacement of sorts! You know you watch a lot of Christmas movies when everyone in your family feels the need to gift you a "Christmas movie watching" mug! I guess I've been successful at signing loudly enough to spread Christmas cheer! Is Buddy the elf my spirit character??? I guess it could be worse!

FOUR // Pareo
I've had this colourful pareo for years now and was so happy to find out it was the perfect match for two of my swimsuits over our Christmas vacation. The red was an easy match, but the particular shade of green being the exact match to my new swimsuit was a surprise! It's such a unique shade of green. I love when this kind of thing happens! I've worn this pareo with pink and aqua swimsuits but never a red or green, so it was nice to style it differently. Also, the convenience and happy little accident of finding out I already had a great swimsuit cover-up option just sitting in my closet made packing that much easier and fun.

FIVE // Ornament
While in Mexico over Christmas, I spotted these beautiful hand painted clay ornaments and thought it would be the best souvenir of our Christmas on the beach. The colour scheme for my Christmas tree is purples and golds, so I was happy to find an option in those colours. It's a unique ornament we'll have for years to come and it will be a sweet reminder of our 2025 Christmas every time I put on the tree. I'm very picky about ornaments and try to not accumulate too many, but I thought one from Mexico would be a perfect addition. I added it to this year's tree the day we got back and it fits in perfectly!
