Ready? Set? Heatwave! I was not ready for the heatwave. Come to think of it, I never want to be ready for a heatwave because I do not like them. Summer is challenging enough weather-wise without extreme heat and humidity. It's not pretty, fun, comfortable or enjoyable. There, I said it! I turn into a gremlin in extreme heat. I'm a sweaty, sticky, moody little gremlin. That being said, I do enjoy the warmth of summer but it has to be reasonable. When it 31°C with a humidex factor of 44°C, we are not playing. These are dangerous and potentially life-threatening highs. Our poor planet is not coping with the harm the greedy little human beings inhabiting it are causing. Not to be too dramatic, but if these extreme weather phenomenons keep worsening, we are toast - literally! (Have I mentioned I get moody when it's this hot?)
Gloom and doom aside, I'm trying to dress for the weather we are having while avoiding pulling a phoenix and bursting into flames. I opted for a nautical-themed lightweight linen Nap Dress, unconstricting sandals (to accommodate the inevitable foot swelling), and tons of sunscreen. I wore my hair down but added a bandana scarf (to absorb the eventual sweat) and brought a hair pin because I know I'll be putting my frizzy humidity hair up within a couple hours. On days like today, I struggle to see the joys of summer... Is it fall yet?
