Mimi Takes Five - #65

ONE // Golf Tournament
Earlier this week, my husband and I participated in my work's gold tournament. It happens every year, but this is the first time I've attended. This was only my first foray into the world of golf. I managed to get a few decent swings in. Turns out I'm better at driving than putting. Who would have thought? I did enjoy myself, but the novelty wore off pretty quickly and I was done by the 10th hole. To me, golf is very much like playing fetch with oneself... You basically throw your own ball and then chase it down. It was  great first time out and, who knows, I might actually end up on the green again someday!

TWO // August Ipsy
My August Ipsy glam bag came in the mail last week and this one is brimming with face masks and lotions: everything I'm loving at the moment. To me, there is nothing better than washing off my make-up at the end of the day and going to bed with a clean, fresh face. I do however like wearing make-up and this bag has got my fall basics covered from a subtle red lipstick, a bold mascara, a pink blush and the perfect red nail polish for the upcoming season. I am also really loving the bag, more than I thought I would! It's a beautiful shade of evergreen and the texture gives it a very nice quality. It looks and feels way more expensive than it really is, which I am okay with!

THREE //Lizzie McGuire Comeback!
My heart might have skipped a beat this week when I came across Hilary Duff's insta post! I grew up in the 90s and pretty much lived for Lizzie McGuire! It was the one show I would never miss and I swooned over each and every one of her outfits and hair styles (butterfly clips, crimping and all!) My godmother had also bought me the movie one summer and my sister and I watched it every day for weeks. Rome has been on my bucket list ever since then. The character was so relatable and was a genuinely nice person. I've also been a fan of Hilary Duff ever since and absolutely love her in Younger. I cannot wait to see what Disney comes up with and where Lizzie ended up. This really is what dreams are made of!

FOUR // Orchid Blooms
My orchid is blooming again! This is its second full blooming cycle since we got it once we moved back in after the fire. I just fill up with hope and joy every time it blooms. It's a constant reminder that we can grow and move on from hardship. Life keeps going, no matter what it throws your way. So far, we have three flowers, but it's looking like we'll end up with at least nine! That's a couple more than the last time! Here's to hoping it blooms for many years to come.

FIVE //Catherine the Great Series
I love historical shows (Downton Abbey, Victoria, The Crown) and am always on the look out for more series in a similar style. This one about Catherine the Great looks promising, especially with Dame Helen Mirren in the role! The mini-series is coming to HBO this fall and I will be sure to check it out.
