Mimi Takes Five - #155

ONE // Beige Boater Hat
I recently got this straw boater hat with beige hat band. I have a version with the black band that I wear a lot and love the shape of a boater hat. I've actually worn it a few times this week on my daily walks to give me more sun protection during the current heatwave. The brim is wide enough to cover my entire face, ears, neck and some of my shoulders. I'm also vigilant with my sunscreen wearing, but paired with a good hat and sunglasses, I am even more protected from those pesky UV rays. I also make sure to walk in the shade whenever possible. The little wooded path in our neighbourhood is always cooler on a hot day. One can still enjoy the outdoors when one is being sun smart.

TWO // French Manicure Trick
I came across this trick on how to get the perfect French tip. My mind was blown! I have tried many different techniques over the years in attempting to get the perfect tip. I think the most luck I've ever had was using little strips that are taped on the nail and removed after paining the tip. Also, I always ended up with one okay hand while the other looked subpar, ha ha! I decided to give this trick and go and was pleasantly surprised with the results. I think I need to practice a bit more to perfect it, but I think this one's a keeper!

THREE // Hanging Pots
We decided to get hanging pot plants for the back yard this year and I am loving them! We installed hanging-basket hooks on the pergola a couple years ago but never actually got around to getting hanging baskets for them. Seeing as we are spending a lot of time in the backyard again this year, we figured now was time! We got two baskets of white petunias and I just love how they brighten the space; they really pop against all the green!

FOUR // Floral Print Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses have been my jam as of late and I'm not looking back. This silhouette is simply perfect for its ease of wear and versatility. This beautiful V-neck, navy floral print has a timeless quality to it and can easily be styled formally or casually. I can see myself wearing it with flat sandals now for a picnic in the park or with loafers and a blazer for a fall workday. I don't tire of adding classic pieces to my wardrobe!

FIVE // BBQ Cookies?
My husband is a serious BBQ master. He can literally cook anything on the grill. And when I say anything, I mean anything! The other day, he cooked a pasta bake entirely on the grill. He was even talking about trying to bake cookies neck. Being down with that plan, I whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough, flash-froze it in premade balls and popped it in the freezer. This way, we'll have cookie dough ready to go! Well, we tried it this weekend and they turned out perfectly gooey. All we did was place our cast-iron skillet on the grill, add in a few dough balls, closed the lid and baked for about fifteen minutes. Delicious cookies straight from the grill!
