Mimi Takes Five - #163

ONE //
Shortbread
Okay, anyone else watch a show where one of the characters eats something and it looks so good you want some every time? Well, that's how I feel when Rebecca eats her daily shortbread in Ted Lasso... (If you haven't watched this yet, what are you waiting for? We've been hooked on this show since season 1 was released last year!) Anyways, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and make my very own shortbread, complete with little pink box! I just Googled "Ted Lasso shortbread recipe" and ended up using this one. I'd never made shortbread before, so this was a first for me. All in all, they turned out well. They were maybe a tad overbaked and that made them more crumbly than they should have been, but they tasted just as I imagined. While they were cooling, I decided to grab some pink cardstock and make my own little pink box. This was purely for presentation, but I think in ultimately made the final product taste better. Enjoy this reel I made to document my journey!

TWO // August Ipsy
I was anticipating the arrival of this month's glam bag more than usual because I was to receive the silky sleep set that I had missed out on previously. I have a satin pillowcase and absolutely love it, so was happy to be adding one into the rotation. While I did receive the silky sleep set, I was in for a bit of a surprise because three of the products I was supposed to be getting were not the right ones... Now, I'm not displeased with the selection sent to me, but it's not what I was expecting. I've been in contact with Ipsy and they are fixing the mix-up, so no worries. Ultimately, I'm happy with what I got and really love the moody burgundy liquid lip!

THREE // Wall Art
Ever since we got our piano this past spring, we've been keeping an eye out for something to put on the wall above it. We were thinking of perhaps hanging a mirror or something that would reflect light. Well, we happened upon the perfect thing at Homesense! After looking at the mirror options, we turned around to spot this beauty: a white and silver horizontal decorative piece. I was drawn by the abstract linear style and loved the pebbled and sparkle burst in the middle. It's not a mirror, but it's white and bright, so the light does reflect off it. Plus, the glitter makes it nice and shiny, ha ha! We absolutely love the way it looks in the space and are so happy with our find.

FOUR // Wool Dryer Balls
I've been using one form or other of dryer balls for at least seven or eight years but was intrigued by the wool dryer balls. I recently got this set and have been using them for a few weeks. I have noticed a slight decrease in drying time, which is always a good thing. I can't really speak to the softness of the dried items as I still use fabric softener. I did actually find that the wool dryer balls actually pick up little lint balls quite well. I washed a new fleece blanket the other day and it shed quite a bit. As much as the dryer balls picked up some of the lint, taking the lint of the balls was a bit of a task... So far, I like them and will keep using them.

FIVE // Seahorse Brooch
I got this cute blue seahorse brooch a couple years ago, but realized I never showed it close up. I've been a big fan of seahorses since I was a kid and am a lover of brooches. Naturally, when I found this one at Banana Republic, I couldn't resist adding it to my collection. I particularly love wearing it with my matching blue seahorse skirt. Brooches are such fun accessories to add interest and personality to your outfits. In my mind, they never go out of style and they are sure to always fit you! I plan on hanging onto my own collection forever.
