Bring on the jewel tones, the plaids and the felt hats: I'm ready for them! Truthfully, it's still a tad too warm to actually wear a sweater with a cape, but I'm just going with it. This outfit screams "fall" to me and I am here for it. As much as I love my straw hats, I'm always happy to be reunited with my wool berets and felt cloche hats. I just love the vintage touch they bring to my looks and add that hint of romance. Also, I'm a huge fan of anything plaid, so a plaid topper over an outfit of solids is a must this season. No need to overcomplicate things. Stick with a base of solid-coloured pieces (picked out from the cape's colour palette, of course) and you'll be good to go. Let the statement cape do the talking! Capes are the best for easy dressing and layering for fall. Just throw it over a basic look and run out the door. To me, statement outerwear is a closet staple. They make you look pulled together with very little effort. Who doesn't like that?
