ONE // Sweet Magnolias
I spent the entirety of last weekend sick, on my couch. This cold completely knocked me out! I haven't felt this awful in a long time. Stuffiness, aches, chills, hoarse cough and just overall feeling gross. I spend most of it on the couch watching Sweet Magnolias on Netflix. The fourth season recently came out, but I realized I somehow missed season 3. Well, I'm all caught up now! It was the perfect show to watch as it's not too loud or hectic and just has a feel-good vibe. I had to go back and rewatch some bits because I kept falling asleep. That's fine, my body clearly needed it to fight this cold. I also got plenty of snuggles from my puppy, so that made it all a bit better. Being sick is no fun, but having a good show to watch helps pass the time.
TWO // Fresh Groom
After getting back from vacation, it was time to bring the dog to the groomers. She gets so fluffy, so quickly! Don't get me wrong, I love her all fluffy - she's so soft and snuggly. But her fur does tend to mat when too long, so regular grooming is required. She always looks so different afterwards, like half of her is gone! I'm always reminded of how petite she actually is. Seeing as it's still winter, at least she's got an array of sweaters to keep her warm until the fluff grows out a bit. I'm happy her fur is short at the moment because the next month might bring on some typical spring weather. Which means lots of slush, rain and mud on our dog walks. The shorter the fur, the easier to keep clean and tidy!
THREE // Tulip Trick
With spring just around the corner, I've been seeing tulips pop up in stores. I really love how a simple bouquet of fresh flowers can really brighten one's space this time of year. While I don't splurge often, I do love some beautiful blooms every once in a while! I can across this new-to-me way of opening up the tulip petals and find it gives the flower a whole new perspective! With the reflexed petals, I find it gives them the look of lilies. It's such a unique way of displaying a bouquet of tulips. I've also seen people using this trick with roses. Now I want to get some tulips to try it out for myself!
FOUR // Moon Mist Ice Cream
I'm not the biggest ice cream person. However I do enjoy it once in a while. One thing to know about me is that I will always pick the most colourful ice cream. I never outgrew that childhood wonder of flavours such as bubblegum, cotton candy and the like. Even better if there are multiple colourful swirls, ha ha! Well, last fall, I was in the ice cream isle trying to pick a flavour. The moment I clapped eyes on Kawartha's Moon Mist, I was sold! It boasts a mix of colours and flavours - yellow for banana, purple for grape and blue for bubblegum. Just look at that perfect swirl of colours when you open the tub; it's absolutely mesmerizing! All you need is a small scoop to delight each and every taste bud and take them on the most flavourful adventure. I'm a fan! Oh, and Kawartha is a Canadian brand and has a great array of flavours. Their ice cream is in a league of its own, truly. My husband is a big fan of their tri-coloured sherbet!
FIVE // Record Jewelry
Our friends have been making jewelry out of vintage records. These are vinyls that are too damaged to listen to or that nobody wants. They've found a really neat way to repurpose them into jewelry, guitar pics, bookmarks and more. I fell for these fluid leaf-shaped earrings. I don't have many black earrings and these are perfectly lightweight! Then, my husband sneakily had purchased the matching necklace and surprised me with it on Valentine's Day. Now I have a complete set! I love the unique aspect of these upcycled pieces and find myself wondering what little bits of music are hidden within.
