ONE // Apple Earrings
The other day, I found these adorable apple earrings at a craft show. I was thrilled because I'd been on the lookout for simple apple stud earrings. And I finally found some! If you've been following for a while, you know that cute earrings are very much my thing. I especially like seasonal themes, with fall and Christmas being my favourites. I can't say how often I've found myself wanting to wear tiny apple earrings last fall. I know we are technically out of season, but that's usually when I find the cutest options. I immediately bought these red glitter resin apple earrings with cute green leaves. They are perfect and I can't wait to wear them! I might not wait until next fall...
TWO // G&G Spring Drop
Grace & Grandeur dropped their first collection of the year - a beautiful selection of new Petersham colours just in time for spring! I don't have any of the Petersham ribbon bows, but if my velvet, fabric and satin bows are anything to go by, the Petersham are just as perfect as the rest! The Olive green colourway is making its comeback and will be joined by two new colours - Terracotta and French Blue. I must admit, I'm tempted by those new colours... Can I justify yet another blue hair bow or even any new hair bows at this point? I mean, the Terracotta looks like it has a nice peach undertone, making it a great pastel option for spring and summer. The temptation is real. I swear by my G&G hair bows, they are the best quality and I wear them almost every day. Seriously. Don't sleep on these beauties!
THREE // Book Club
I joined my first ever book club last week. This particular book club is set up through the Office of Indigenous Affairs at work and the theme is Real Natives versus Pretendians: Indigeneity in Canada. It's not a light topic, to say the least, but I do think it's a necessary one to allow space for the difficult conversations and to explore the values and perspectives of the different Indigenous realities. While I do have some knowledge on the topic, I realize I still have so much to learn to really gain perspective and nuance. I decided to join the book club to continue on my personal journey with regard to reconciliation and wanting to learn to be a better ally. Our first meeting was on the Inuit identity. I think this is the topic on which I probably knew the least. We have a fiction and non-fiction book on each weekly topic. I'll admit the readings can be heavy and triggering at times, but I knew this journey would not be an easy one. The realities of these communities have and are still difficult and I understand the importance of me sitting with the discomfort I come across on the pages. I learned so much in just the first week and am looking forward to doing more work in the coming weeks.
FOUR // Stylebook 10
This week, my most favourite app got a major update. Stylebook, which is my closet app, is my most favourite app ever. It's probably the app I use the most and have had for the longest time (since 2013!) It really comes in handy on the daily and helps me keep track of my extensive closet while providing me insight and statistics on every piece I own. It's how I keep track of everything I wear, when I wore it and how much it costs. There are many more categories of information the app tracks, but I also use it as a bit of a pass time. I'm always thinking up new outfits or clothing combinations and as soon as inspiration strikes, I start creating visual outfits in the app and save for later. This is also the place I conjure up my packing lists and capsule wardrobe for travelling. If you want to stay organized and keep your closet in tip-top shape, I can't recommend the use of this app enough. I must say, the most unexpected time in came in handy was after the fire, to identify the losses. My closet inventory was a lifesaver in this situation. I never thought I could love an app so much. We got a new update this week and it's been great to see it evolve and get more functional over the years. Yay to Stylebook 10!
FIVE // Adjustable Belts
Years ago, I got this thin black adjustable belt with silver hardware. I used to wear it with my dress work pants and thought it added a nice, sophisticated touch. I've recently started wearing it again and always like the delicate addition it brings to my outfits. Not only is it stylish, but the adjustable length makes it the most customizable belt ever! Being someone with a big waist to hip ratio, I can never wear belts around both my hips and waist, hence the extensive belt collection... I'd been on a mission to find more adjustable belts like the one I had and I did! I got this two-pack of black and beige, but with gold hardware. They are real closet MVPs!
