Red my Lips

I found a way to dress down this amazing striped bow blouse. I simply paired the navy shirt with a denim jacket for monochromatic layers. I think the result is perfect! I even rolled the cuffs of the jacket and the blouse for more layering details. I then decided to wear a pop of colour to break up the navy and opted for red pants! You can never go wrong with red pants, they are the ultimate statement piece. I then wanted to kick things up a notch and wear my full-on gold sequin Mary-Jane's. There is no time like the present to wear blingy shoes! Today's look is the perfect example of how to dress down a couple fancier pieces by pairing them with bolder and more casual ones. I was very pleased with this look and felt super confident wearing it. Perhaps the red lips had something to do with that!

Fur-get me Dot

I apologize for the doubly punny title today... It was just too perfect not to use it! I also took out the red pants again. Turns out my little December experiment made me realize just how much I like wearing red! These pants sure are getting a lot of wear... I then figured you can't go wrong with a polka-dot sweater and fuzzy faux-fur vest. The colour and print of the sweater make me think of snowflakes on a cloudy day, which is appropriate considering the season. The vest and the fuzzy boots complement each other perfectly. This outfit is the quintessential Canadian girl's winter outfit of the day!

Black Blanket

Blanket scarves are so versatile. On really cold days, I like to wear it draped over a basic tee and cinched in at the waist with a belt. It's basically a chic way to wear a blanket to work! Who knew a simple piece of fabric could be so stylish? I could simply drape it over my shoulders, but I like how the belt keeps it in place all day long. No need to always adjust the slipping scarf. It does tend to have a bulky look, so to balance things out, I try to stick with a more form-fitting bottom. The OTK boots also help elongate the legs. I just can't get enough of these boots! They are definitely my most worthwhile purchase this past season. How else would you style your blanket scarves?

Festive Fair Isle

Some days just call for comfy-coziness. I knew I'd have a busy day and would attempt some last minute Christmas shopping so I needed to wear something functional, all while remaining in the spirit of the season. Red was a given, but then I reached for my black Fair Isle knit and a lace blouse. I like wearing layers during the cooler months. It's a great way to stay warm for one, but is also great from a style perspective. I get creative with my layering and feel it adds dimension to my looks, all while maximizing the versatility of certain pieces. That's how you get more mileage out of some basic garments. My outfit served its purpose and I got my shopping done!

Snow and Red

If you haven't picked up on it by now, I'll just point out that I'm challenging myself to wear red every day in December! It won't always be the main colour of my look, but it will be featured somehow. I realize I've only started posting them a bit after the start of the month, but I assure you I have been wearing red every day. Check my Instagram feed for reference! In today's look, red is very prominent. I woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow and was excited to finally have snow again. I hope it stays this time... I figured a red, black and white colour-blocked look would be the right fit for today! Is there anything more festive than a pop of red?

Dinner Attire

This is my take on the nautical look for fall. I could not resist getting a pair of red pixie pants! You can honestly never go wrong with these pants. I paired them with my navy Breton-striped top, dark-wash denim jacket and white plimsolls. I threw on a navy floppy hat and a red plaid scarf to really give the look some fall flavour! We were going to a casual dinner at a friend's house and I wanted to be comfortable, yet presentable. We had a fabulous time and I'm happy for the bit of stretch in my pants... We definitely left with full bellies and a big smiles on our faces!
