Mimi Takes Five - #153

ONE // Large Straw Tote
I can't resist a cute straw bag and this one is my most recent addition. I really like the size of it as a tote is more spacious and practical for running errands or going to the beach. The beige leatherette trimming is what drew me to this particular bag as it differs from the others in my collection. A great neutral straw tote is the most versatile summer accessory that matches the most casual to glamorous of looks!

TWO // Boot Cabinet
As some of you might know, I reorganized my shoe storage last fall and set up clear plastic boxes, pilled to the ceiling. I absolutely love my "shoe wall" (as I call it) and find it to be the most practical solution. Having the ability of seeing and accessing every single pair of shoes is life-changing! However, I was left with a few pairs of tall boots that could not fit in my little cubbies. I ended up getting this four-drawer shoes cabinet. This style of cabinet has drawers that swing open with slats to store shoes. I decided to lay the boots horizontally and was able to fit two pairs per drawer. It's the perfect solution for storing my boots while maximizing space. Plus, the cabinet fits perfectly opposite my shoe wall. Now, I have a "shoe hall"!

THREE // May Ipsy
I'm excited to try out my glam bag products this month. I got a few new-to-me product that look promising. I tried the nail polish and am head over heels for this shade! It's the perfect nude for my skin tone and I will be wearing it on repeat this summer. I also love this Pixi lip gloss because I already have a few of these and they are great. They have a minty scent and are not too sticky. I'm looking forward to trying the mineral sunscreen, the under-eye balm, the exfoliating pads, the blemish patches and the cleanser. I have to say, I'm not too fond of the lipstick shade, but it works. It might be more of a fall colour, so I'll probably wear it more at that point. All in all, this is a great bag full of summer time products.

FOUR // Halston on Netflix
I've been watching the Halston miniseries on Netflix and am really enjoying. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I had never heard of Halston before and actually find that fact quite astounding, considering how big he was on the American fashion scene. He got his big break by designing Jackie Kennedy's pillbox hat and grew a fashion empire from there. He rose to the top quickly in the 70s, was living the high life during Studio 54's heyday and was best friends with Liza Minnelli. Then, his empire crumbled as quickly as it rose and he dies of AIDS in 1990. It's a classic tale of fame and fortune that turns sour in the end.

FIVE // Bouclé Wrap Dress
This ivory bouclé wrap dress is absolutely stunning! It's a true wrap style, which makes it a fabulous layering piece. I can seriously see myself wearing this number all year round. I can get creative with the layers in the cooler months yet can still wear it in the summer because it is sleeveless and light -coloured. The bouclé material and silhouette are classic and timeless, making it just the type of closet staple I will have for years to come!
