Mimi Takes Five - #160

ONE // Tie-Dye
While on vacation, my mom and I decided to try our hands at tie-dying. My sister had gotten a tie-dye kit, we had purchased t-shirts for all the nieces and nephew (plus a few for ourselves) and looked up techniques on Pinterest. We dyed a total of 12 shirts... When we do something, we go all out! They all turned out but one and that's because the fabric was not cotton. My bad, lesson learned, ha ha! It was a great way to flex our creative muscles and I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to do more... For my two tops, I was going for a light pastel look on the cropped sweatshirt and more of a peacock colour palette on the tank. I'm happy with the results!

TWO // Pin Haul
I recently placed another enamel pin order from my favourite small shop, Nutmeg and Arlo. It arrived this week and I'm so excited to wear them! I got a few I was eyeing for a bit, the unicorn and the gingerbread man. I also got the happy daisy pin because it makes me smile! Then, I added the Read More Books book because I like books and work in a library, so it's very appropriate. Finally, I got the sweetest little ghost eating a chocolate bar. How perfect for a non-spooky Halloween pin? It's just a bonus that I am also chocolate fanatic, ha ha! Last was this adorable sun catcher to stick on a window. It makes the most amazing rainbows and who doesn't like a house bathed in rainbows? If you want to see more, I remixed the original packing reel and added the unboxing. This order has made it full circle!

THREE // Kath & Kim
So, before heading out on vacation, I decided to download a bit of Netflix content on my phone to save on data. (If you don't do this, you are seriously missing out!) Since I wasn't actually watching anything in particular, I just went to my list and added a few random things. One of those things was the series Kath & Kim. I had never heard of this Australian comedy from the early aughts and it was a true revelation! It's nice, different, unusual, I absolutely adored it and couldn't stop watching it! Perhaps it was the nostalgic aspects of the late 90s/early 2000s or perhaps it was the cringey family dynamics. Either way, I'm fully invested in this series and can't believe I missed out for so long. Now that I'm done the series I was delighted to find out that Netflix also has the two movies, which I plan to watch right away. If you, like me, missed out on this gem of a show the first time around, I urge you to go watch it tout suite, ploise!

FOUR // July Ipsy
So, my July Ipsy glam bag arrived and I was a bit disappointed. I was looking forward to this one, specifically for the satin pillow case. However, neither of my add-ons was packed in my order... I reached out to Ipsy and they will be sending the moisturizer but, sadly, the pillowcase is out of stock. Oh well, these things happen. I'm happy with most of my other products. I'm loving the cleanser, serum and moisturizer, but prefer liquid liner to pencils and the texture of the SPF moisturizer is turning me off. I don't dislike any of the products, but am hoping my August bag is back up to standards. That being said, I absolutely love the design of the bag this month, so that's a win!

FIVE // Hill House Nap Dress
I did it. I finally did it. I bought an official Hill House nap dress. After settling for similar styles from Old Navy (which I love), I have to say, the hype of the original nap dress holds up! As much as I love the Ellie style, I decided to get the Nesli because those puffed sleeves are simply dreamy! I got it in the Blue Glitter Check colourway and am absolutely loving it. I find the glitter takes things up a notch and I could easily see myself wearing this dress for a dinner date. That being said, it is comfortable enough to nap in and that's what makes this dress a real winner!
