ONE // Denim Short Duo
I decided I was tired of my denim shorts and wanted to try a new style. I got out of my comfort zone and tried out the Curve Love model from Abercrombie. They are slightly oversized but still have a great silhouette and are more high-waisted. I got the medium wash and the white and blue striped colourways. They fit well and I can confirm that the Curve Love does work for curvy girls. I've got a booty and wide hips, so shorts (and bottoms, in general) can be challenging fit-wise. These are a looser fit and I still have to get used to that, but they are very comfortable and they look great. The shape is out of my comfort zone but I am getting used to them. The best part is that they are so versatile and I can style them in so many ways. I wanted denim shorts that could be worn all summer long.
TWO // July Ipsy
For the third month in a row, I fell of the design of the Ipsy Glam Bag. How could I resist these beachy parasol inspired yellow stripes? And the little sunglasses pull? Come on! This bag screams easy-breezy beach vacation, so it was a must. I'm loving my products this time around. The mascara is great and stays on so well - really a perfect option for muggy summer days. I'm loving the Vitamin C Booster because it feels like a real treat for my skin during my nighttime routine. The cleanser smells nice and I like the bottle. The plumping lip oil is fun and tingly, but it's ultimately a shiny lip gloss, so that's how I use it. The neck cream is nice, but I haven't used it long enough to notice any difference. Finally, the eye patches are great for a little TLC after a long summer day. I think this product line-up has been the best of the past few months. I love having a few travel-sized products ready to pack at a moment's notice for a summertime adventure.
THREE // Mini Cucumbers
The most recent product to pop up in our garden has been the mini cucumbers. We planted them with the sugar snap peas and noticed these aren't producing as much, but on the flip side the cucumber plants are flowering a lot and we've spotted our first little cucumbers! It's so exciting to pop into the garden every day to see what's producing. We'll be able to hopefully harvest a handful in a few days. Nothing beats picking a healthy snack right off the vine! We're really enjoying our backyard/garden this summer. All of my husband's hard work is paying off in vegetable production. Looking at the extra greenery is also a nice perk!
FOUR // Julie Andrews Documentary
I'll admit my heart skipped a beat when I saw the post on Instagram. I'm afraid I feared the worst for a second but that feeling quickly changed when I read that a Julie Andrew documentary was in the works. I think we'll be in for a real treat! I've admired Julie for as long as I can remember; she's been a constant in my life since childhood. The characters of Mary Poppins, Maria Von Trapp, Queen Clarisse Renaldi and, more recently, Lady Whisltedown have all been part of my life at one time or another. She's played such iconic characters both on screen and on stage. She was amazing as Millie Dillmount and was the original Eliza Doolittle! Truth be told, her stage career runs the gamut and with a voice as stunning as hers was, it's no surprise. I remember reading the first book of her biography back in 2009 or 2010 and was fascinated by her early life. No one embodies grace and poise quite like Dame Julie. I really can't wait for this new documentary to be released on Disney+ in 2027!
FIVE // Whipstitch Flip-Flops
I got these whipstitch flip-flops on a whim when I placed an Old Navy order. I figured I couldn't go wrong with another pair of neutral slip on sandals and I liked the stitch design on these. It gives them a unique look that is a bit more elevated. Well, they arrived and I absolutely love them! The shade of beige is such a perfect match to my skin tone making them a superior neutral footwear option for summer. The whipstitch is giving nautical, which very much aligns with my personal summer style. They are comfortable and work with so many looks. The footwear crush I didn't see coming!
