Spring Flutter

I reached for this cheerful green floral top today and it immediately put a smile on my face! I've had this top for a few years now and I don't tire of wearing it! I love the lightweight fabric, the bold print and colour palette, the slight V-neck and the flutter sleeves. I really have a thing for flutter sleeves because, to me, they are the perfect compromise between a t-shirt sleeve and sleeveless. You get the feel of a sleeveless top with a bit more coverage, making it more modest. I have to say though, the best part is that you don't get a bizarre farmer's tan! Haha! Growing up on a farm, I have seen my fair share of awful t-shirt tan lines! Then again, I don't suggest farmers make the switch to flutter sleeves either... So, that was a fun glimpse into how my mind works.

If you are not farming, but want to look cute and avoid funny tan lines, flutter sleeves are your best friends! I paired my top with white denim, a straw bag and fuchsia sandals today. I added twisted hoop earrings and knotted a scarf in my hair. This updo is perfect for the hot days of summer that are sure to arrive if they haven't already. We got a few really beautiful days lately, so much so that I inadvertently got a sun burn on my back. I was wearing a very strappy workout top, so the result is not pretty. Let's just say X marks the spot... In hindsight, I should have just worn a flutter sleeve top and avoided the intricate tan lines. Not off to a great start in the "summer glow" department.
