Mimi Takes Five - #117

ONE // The Crown, Season 4
The trailer for season 4 of The Crown has dropped and I am so excited! We are finally entering the decade with which I started familiarizing myself with the British Royal Family, the era of Diana! Also, Margaret Thatcher! The trailer says very little, but the imagery speaks for itself. I cannot wait for the launch on November 15. It's so nice to have something to look forward to! I've really enjoyed the previous seasons and can't wait for the next half of the series. This will be the second season with Olivia Colman as the Queen, until she passes the reigns onto Imelda Staunton. It will take some getting used to to get the image of Umbridge out of my head....

TWO // Last GMG Dress
I've already worn this dress a couple times and I really love it! It's what I like to call a basic statement piece: it's a great building block for outfits, but also stands out in its own right. The baby blue hue is perfection and the silhouette modest without being stuffy. I can't wait to style it with more of a fall flair! I will really miss the Gal Meets Glam collection, the dresses are of top-notch quality and the styles were timeless. This is the last dress I purchased and I predict I'll get a lot of wear out if it.

THREE // Cable Girls
I've had this show on my Netflix list for a while now and decided to just start it. I have a knack for finding either dubbed or subtitles shows... You know, the ones that require more concentration? Anyways, this one is dubbed, so is not too bad to watch, but I did wonder if there was an odd delay between the picture and voice track for the first episode! Haha! I got over that pretty quickly to be honest. So the show is about four women who work the switchboard at a phone company in Madrid during the 1920s. The vibe of the show is totally on par with what I like: a historical context, great costumes and strong female characters. I find it to be a mix of elements from Downton Abbey, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and a hint of Agent Carter. All in all, that's a great combination and I'm really enjoying it so far! The best part is that there are six seasons, so makes it the perfect binge-watching show!

P.S. It makes me think of my mom a bit because she told me she used to work at a switchboard, so to see it in action is quite cool!

FOUR // August Ipsy
My August Ipsy glam bag has arrived (on schedule this time) and there were no missing products! I'll take it! I'm happy with the contents this time around and was most excited about the rose quartz roller! I've wanted one of these for the longest time and it's all I expected it to be. The rolling motion is so soothing and I enjoy the cooling effect of the rose quartz. I've added this to my nighttime routing and am all about that pampered feeling! I'm also enjoying the Glamglow eye cream and the mulberry eye liner is a nice change to my usual black. It's a softer look, perfect for fall. The H2O+ gel moisturizer is nice and the Tatcha setting spray is okay also. To be fair, I haven't quite noticed if it does much long-term, but the spritz is refreshing! The Balance Me serum smells amazing and nothing beats a good charcoal mask! I'm very pleased with my goodies this month!

FIVE // Polka Dot Skirt
Showing off the final summer pieces I got because I'll be putting them away soon enough to make way for the fall stuff. This blue polka dot midi skirt is a dream and twirls so well in the summer breeze! I'm a big fan of wearing white and blue colours in the summer, so this piece spoke to me (oh yeah, let's not forget the polka dots!) I absolutely adore midi skirts and the fit and flare shape is my favourite because it fits well and gives you shape without restricting movement or sacrificing comfort. I have more midi skirts than I care to admit and will keep wearing them forever. Seriously.
