Well, I did it. I decorated for Christmas! It's much earlier than I normally do, but it's 2020, so all bets are off! I guess I'm trying to accelerate the passing of time a bit. Maybe that will break the curse? Who knows, but it's worth a try! Maybe I'm just looking for something to look forward to? Whatever the reason, it felt great to tap into that festive spirit and get my house ready for the holidays, no matter what they will look like this year. Some traditions will hold up no matter what!
TWO // Scrapbooking Tidbits
I've been working on my Christmas cards for a couple weeks now (sill not done...) and these are the new supplies I got this year. I have a decent stamp collection, but it's fun to add a little something every year to change things up a bit. Variety is good and prevents my cards from always being the same. I really try to create unique styles every year and it helps to add a few tidbits. I got this set of mixed stamps and added some red glitter and black embossing powder. I love embossing and try to incorporate this element in all of my designs, so adding different colours helps keep things fresh. I'll try to share some of the final designs once I mail them out!
THREE // Audrey Hepburn Documentary
Oh, I cannot wait for this documentary to come out! I'm a huge Audrey fan and am always finding inspirations for my own looks from her timeless sense of style. She was such an icon! I'm also a huge fan of all her movies, but have a soft spot for My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany's. I read her biography once and was stunned to learn of her difficult childhood during the Second World War and how it affected her throughout her life. I'm really looking forward to diving deeper into the person she was and the good she brought to the world in both her career in showbusiness and her humanitarian work.
FOUR // Festive Apron
I snagged this adorable subtly festive apron this bast summer during a Christmas in July sale. During quarantine, I've really tapped into my backing and didn't have an apron, so I figured this one would be perfect for all the holiday baking. I mean, flour does have a knack of getting all over the place, so protective gear is necessary. Besides, if one has to wear an apron, said apron must be both functional and cute. Am I right? If I'm going to be wearing one for the better part of a day, it might as well be pretty to look at! This year is all about house wear and I think aprons are a sorely overlooked category.
FIVE // Corrie Turns 60
Anyone who knows me knows that I love Coronation Street! It's the one soap opera I watch and I don't miss an episode. I remember it playing on TV when I was a kid, I never really watched it, but always recognized the opening song. Then, in January 2015, I got hooked when watching the omnibus of that week's episodes on a Sunday morning. Picking up a show like this means that there are a lot story lines and characters to learn about. Anytime I had a question, I'd look it up online and read the backstories and history of characters. I'm now very well versed in all things Corrie! I've even gone as far as watching some of the vintage episodes I'd find on YouTube. To say I'm hooked would be an understatement... Well, turns out that Coronation Street is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary on December 9th. It's the longest running-soap opera ever! To mark the occasion, ITV is creating a movie that will pay tribute to the man who brought his vision to life: Tony Warren. After seeing a glimpse on their Instagram page, I can't wait to watch!
