Mimi Takes Five - #186

ONE // Winter Cottage Getaway
My husband and I took a week off to escape to a secluded little cottage. We booked it ages ago (keeping Covid restrictions in mind) and decided it would be just the two of us. It was nice to have something to look forward to and to get out of the house for a little change of scenery. We made the most of it and really relaxed. I did a lot of reading, something I hadn't done much since the summer and it was so nice to get back into it! We enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace in the evenings and it was wonderful. Is there anything better than the hygge feeling of cocooning at the cottage in winter? I had no routine and pretty much stayed snuggled on the couch with a blanket, my book, a warm tea and the puppy. This is my definition of a perfect day!

TWO // Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Season 4
This winter has been a real treat from a television perspective for me as it seems all my favourite shows are releasing new seasons. I had been waiting for the fourth season of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for quite some time and the first two episodes do not disappoint! I feel like we are back to the feel of the first season with Midge being back home instead of on tour. As much as I like the travelling outfits, it's good to have her back in her home bubble with her friends and family. The family dynamic is so good and the banter makes for hilarious exchanges. It's great to get to watch a light-hearted show at the moment. There is so much going on in the world that little escapes help. Laughing is also good! I'm also loving the releasing of two episodes per week. Being a binge watcher, this new format somewhat softens the blow of having to wait for new episodes each week.

THREE //Potter Settlement Winery
While on our little vacay, we popped into Potter Settlement Winery, the place where we got married three years ago! We hadn't been since the wedding and it was so nice to be back. The place has changed quite a bit and is looking better and better. Sandor's vision is truly coming to life and it's a sight to see. We've been following the development of the winery since our first visit back in August of 2016 and it's a real gem of a place! We stocked up on some favourites and some new wines as well as snagging a bottle of their first port! One of the things I love most about this specific winery is the storytelling they do with their wines. Each one has a story steeped in historical details and connections. An in-person visit to the winery for a tasting is a truly great experience that I can't recommend highly enough. We were also gifted with our very own local honey and maple syrup, which I cannot wait to dig into! Knowing the owners has its perks! It was so good to be back!

FOUR // Pond Floral Ellie
I had been waiting with anticipation for my new Nap Dress to arrive! I had treated myself to one of the new releases for my birthday and it finally came. Sadly, I noticed the fabric had bled in a few spots and my heart sank. I promptly contacted customer service and they are sending me a new one. Other than the slight defects, the dress is perfect! I'm in love with the new Pond Floral design, the longer smocking is perfect and the pockets are a great addition. I'm not sure how much I'd put in my pockets, but they are nice to have just in case. I do find the fabric to be a bit on the sheer side, but that's a non-issue as I've got plenty of slip options I can wear with my Nap Dresses. I can't wait to style this new one for spring! I'm thinking this will be my Easter dress this year. Its pastel palette and little critters will be perfect for the warmer months!

FIVE // February Ipsy
My February Ipsy arrived while I was away. It's always a nice treat to get my Ipsy in the mail! First things first, I absolutely love this month's bag style. The red background with overall pink hearts is super cute! The February bags are usually around a love theme (for obvious reasons) and I tend to always like them. Call me a hopeless romantic, ha ha! While I haven't had a chance to test all the products yet, it's looking like a decent selection so far. I've tried the brow gel (like it), the eyeliner (it's okay) and mascara (love it). I'm looking forward to testing out the foot cream because my poor feet have been very dry lately. Speaking of dry, my lips could use a bit of TLC also, so the lip scrub will be tested imminently! I'm also looking forward to trying the serum. Goldfaden MD is one of my favourite brands, so there's a good likelihood that I will also love this product. I've not been doing full faces of make-up lately, so not sure how I feel about the setting powder. It's just not the kind of thing I use much of... While there is nothing too fancy in this bag, it's full of good basics and solid everyday products.
