Birthday Dinner Date Night

I got dressed up to go out to a special birthday dinner with my husband. He'd made a reservation at a restaurant that's been on our to-try list for ages now. I donned my burgundy velvet Nap Dress with black and gold accessories for our dinner date night. We went to Les Fougères and it lived up to expectations! I got to eat basically all of my favourite foods, starting with warm marinated olives and sourdough bread appetizer. We then shared the roasted beet dish (I've loved beets since I was little!) and finished off with the duck confit, served with a potato roesti, goat's cheese, poached pears, cranberry compote and spinach. When I say this is the best duck I've ever had, I'm saying it in all seriousness. I love duck and have had it many times at various restaurants, but the crispy skin on this particular dish was delectable beyond compare. I also adore how every flavour of this dish worked so well together. It was perfection till the very last bite. My husband opted for the braised beef pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it! He has a soft spot for wood-oven pizzas, so this was a natural choice for him. We then finished off with dessert - a crème brûlée for him and a sorbet trio for me. We'd definitely recommend this restaurant to any fellow foodie.
