Mimi Takes Five - #314

ONE //
 Les Miz
I checked a big show off my bucket list recently! I got to see a performance of Les Misérables! This is one of those long-running musicals that has a poignant story and songs that give you shivers. I've been a fan of it for a very long time and it has been on my to-see list, but the opportunity had not arisen until now. I did see a high-school production when I was myself in high school and I remember enjoying it, but it was nowhere on the level of a professional production. The show lived up to my (very high) expectations and I was fully invested in the watching experience. The set design was ingenious, the costumes were on point and the cast was outstanding! The standout performers to me we Éponine, Enjolras and Gavroche. Of course the comedic timing of the Thénardiers was golden! The roles were all excellently cast, but those were the ones I appreciated the most. It was a real treat to see this one live and I already want to see it again!

TWO // Team Canada Scarf
My husband is a big fan of the Olympics, he's watching any sport, any time really. He has his favourites, but will watch whatever event is on. I am more of a watch the opening and closing ceremonies kind of gal. I'll catch a few highlights here and there and follow the drama that makes it to the headlines, but I'm not fully invested in watching any event. I am, however, interested in the fashion and costumes. I danced for many years as a kid, so am all about a sequins bodysuit, ha ha! This year, Lululemon designed the Team Canada gear. I've always loved Lululemon products, so was quick to check out what they had on their website. I checked, appreciated and left it at that. Fast-forward a week and we get a Lululemon package in the mail addressed to my husband. I scratched my head because he's never ordered from there before! I figured he got himself an Olympic piece. He did, but he also surprised me with a Team Canada bandana scarf! I had totally missed this on the website as the product photo is not obvious. He knows me so well! I love a scarf and think it's a versatile piece! I was so touched!

THREE // Team Canada Pins
After the scarf, my husband surprised me with the collectible pins he'd also gotten! I had noticed these on the Lululemon website and really liked the look of them. I do have a soft spot for an enamelled pin... These pins are so beautiful and perfectly patriotic. I particularly like the Indigenous designs. The beaver and campfire and dazzling! The two-packs then each contain the Canadian Olympic Committee logo and the Canadian Paralympic Committee logo. I'm happy he got one of each set because I would not have been able to pick just one! We decided we could share the pins and style them in our own unique ways. He likes adding a nice pin to a blazer when he dresses up and I like wearing them all the time, really! The red, burgundy and black colours will look great with my fall colour palette. Be on the lookout to see if you can spot one!

FOUR // Workout Top
I love a white workout top, but they tend to get dingy pretty quickly. I mean, it makes sense when I wear them to work out in or to do some house cleaning. I was due for a new one and wanted a more cropped option to pair with my many workout skorts. Also, white was the colour that would go with all my skorts. I landed on this cropped bra top with high neck. I find the neckline maybe a tad too high, but it's totally workable. I like the built-in bra, even though I'd prefer for the cup inserts to be sewn into place... For a top I got on sale, it's a pretty decent option that will get lots of wear!

FIVE // My Dreams of You
Last weekend, this movie premiered on the Hallmark channel as past of their Summer Nights line-up. It was filmed in Ottawa and I was lucky enough to get to work on it as a background performer! It was such a fun day on set and the story sounded very intriguing. I have yet to watch it, but I'm really looking forward to seeing if I can spot myself or some of my fellow backgrounders in the final cut. This is such a fun gig I do in my spare time and it's a wonderful learning experience. I've always been a big fan of Hallmark movies so getting the opportunity to see the behind the scenes is thrilling! Let me know is you spot me!
