Mimi Takes Five - #417

ONE // Cross Stitch
It's been a couple years since I did my first ever cross stitch project and found this kit recently in my craft drawer. I forgot I'd gotten it and thought it would be just the right easy craft to do this summer. Now that I have the hang of it, this one took me no time at all and I found I was able to keep the back of my work clean as well. I like the simplicity of the bird pattern and think it turned out so cute! I also was so efficient with my technique that I have plenty of floss left over. Last time, I had run out of one colour... I have yet to do a big elaborate cross stitch project, but for now these dollar store kits have been great!

TWO // Pumpkin Progress
We wanted to plant pumpkins this year and tried growing them  from seeds. We got 1 viable sprout. We planted it and it's been slowly growing. Well, this week, I spotted two flowers on my plant! It's super exciting and a great sign. We still have a long way to go for my little pumpkin that could but I'm not losing hope. I'm out in the garden every morning checking up on my pumpkin plant. Just call me Linus at this point! All other vegetables in the garden have done really well and we are going to get a gigantic bean harvest. The sunflowers have also grown tall and strong and started to flower, too. But my most precious plant is the pumpkin and I'm really hoping it produces fruit.

THREE // G&G is Back!
Back in March, I was sad to share that my favourite hair bow creator had closed the direct-to-consumer part of her business to focus on wholesale. Well, I'm happy to report she's back! Her Etsy shop has reopened and is up to date with the stock and bow styles. Earlier this week, the fall selection dropped. We've got a selection of velvet bows in Coffee and Copper. I have a bow of each colour and they are elite choices for fall. I wear mine all the time and can't recommend them enough. I'm so happy Grace & Grandeur is back, I've missed Sarah and her bows!

FOUR // Crab Sweater
I can't believe it took me this long to talk about my crab sweater! The minute I saw this in stores, I knew I had to have it. It is the most perfect nautical sweater to ever exist! We're talking white and navy stripes, a sailor collar, red accent whipstitching, white cuffs and seashell buttons! I mean, come on! The red crab design is the cherry on top! I couldn't have designed a better sweater myself. I've been wearing it on repeat these last few weeks. As soon as a day is rainy, overcast or slightly cooler, this sweater is getting a wear. It's cozy, soft and the oversized fit makes it the ideal sweater for lounging. I seriously can't get enough of this. I have yet to pair it with my crab purse, but that's just a matter of time.

FIVE // Good Witch
Speaking of fall, I recently started rewatching a favourite comfort show of mine - Good Witch! This series is a Hallmark original and started with multiple movies before expanding into a multi-season show. It's the perfect blend of magic, mystery and seasonal autumnal comfort. It fells like a warm hug and pairs well with a cozy couch blanket and warm cup of tea. I remember watching the original movies back in the day when they played on TV and falling in love with the mysterious Cassie Nightingale. I also love the nostalgia of the early 2010s along with the fashions of the time. The seven seasons of the show can be streamed on Global TV and there is plenty of content to keep you entertained well into fall.
