ONE // Blue Specs
After getting my routine eye check-up done this summer, it was time to update my prescription. I decided to keep my old frames and just update the lenses. However, I also decided to get a new pair (or two)! My husband actually came with me to try on frames and managed to convince me to get the fancy ones - his pick! I was leaning more towards the different colour. In the end I was able to get both so today I'm featuring my pick - the blue glasses! This colour is out of my comfort zone for sure but I felt more confident in taking a risk since I was keeping my safe choice also. Having options is great! I stuck with the cat-eye shape and plastic frames (my go tos) but got creative with the colour. It's a deep midnight blue with some lighter shiny flecks in the upper section. I'm actually really loving them and think I made a great choice! I'll show you the second pair next week, saving the best for last!
TWO // Pleated Plaid Skirt
I got this darling pleated plaid skirt from Ricki's and it's the most classic and timeless piece. On a side note, I'm thrilled Ricki's is back and their offerings this season are top-notch. When I saw this perfect checked pleated skirt, I knew I needed it. While I do have similar skirts, they are mostly boulcé fabric or wool, this one is a thinner fabric - making it an ideal option for fall. Its colour palette is mostly neutral but there is a subtle rust stripe throughout. This delighted me as I could pick up on that orange hue in the fall but it's not too harsh that it stands out. I've worn it a few times already this fall and plan on wearing it right up to the holidays. Paired with black or brown tights, it's the ideal bottom to many outfit formulas. Yay for versatile pieces!
THREE // Tartan Bows
It's time to get your tartan Grace & Grandeur bows! This year's festive line-up is out and the new Ivory Tartan is simply darling. The classic red tartan, black tartan and Blackwatch are also still available in a few favourite styles. Tartan not your thing? There are plenty of luxe velvet and satin bow options to choose from in an array of festive colours. Shades of red, evergreen, black and navy are all up for grabs. The easiest way to add a festive touch to all your outfits this season is with a classic (or statement) hair bow! From concerts, to dinners, to Christmas shopping and even cozy days in watching movies; a hair bow is just the thing to complete your look. I live and breathe by my hair bow collection and it gets lots of action this time of year. They really are the perfect gift for all the bow lovers in your life. A timeless accessory is always a good idea. Get yours while supplies last!
FOUR // Quilted Coat
I love super feminine pieces and gasped when I saw this checked quilted coat this summer. The oversized collar is what my coat dreams are made of. I remember I was on a call with my mom while browsing the store and ended up putting her on video chat to show her the coat. She also thought it was very much my style. I love that it's a statement coat but in a neutral colour palette and timeless print. It's the ideal layer for this time of year and I'm sure it will work well in the spring too. The fact it's black and grey means it pairs well with various colour palettes, making it a versatile piece. I love how it can also easily be dressed up for a night out with a fancy dress or dressed down with jeans and a sweater for a more casual vibe. I love when I find unique pieces this!
FIVE // The Roses
My husband and I sat down to watch The Roses together the other night. I'm not sure what I expected of this movie other than it looked like a fun comedy and I liked the main actors. It started off very cheeky and lighthearted but gradually turned to the dramatic. It really kept me on my toes and I never knew what to expect next. At times, it was giving Mr. and Mrs. Smith. There are so many family dynamics at play and a lot of the conflict arises from shifts in those dynamics. I don't want to give away too much, but it was a movie we both enjoyed and the end is a bit of poetic justice... It's not like anything I've watched lately and that was refreshing!
