Mimi Takes Five - #380

ONE // Advent Calendar
I love the tradition that is the advent calendar because I love a countdown! And who doesn't like the idea of a daily little treat? I mean, what's there not to love? While there is an abundance of advent calendar options out there and the choice can be overwhelming, I try to stick to one every year. In the past, I've done the David's Tea calendar (which is still a great option), I've also done the classic chocolate calendars as well as the Boîte à bonbons calendar. The latter is the one I chose this year. I ordered it during the pre-order period in September and it arrived this past week! These candies truly are superior in quality and taste, so it was an easy choice. I also love that it supports a Canadian business and that they also sell a refill kit, making a great eco-friendly option for subsequent years. There is enough each day to share with a special someone. I bought it with the goal of sharing with my husband. I can't wait to start opening my daily treats!

TWO // Tinsel Hair
I got my roots touched up and a maintenance trim the other day, and decided to add even more tinsel to my hair. I still had a few bronze tinsels left but wanted to add some red for the season. I just love how a tiny bit of tinsel can really jazz up your hair for the holidays. It's the perfect thing because you put it in and it just stays put. The ultimate set it and forget it festive touch! I know they will gradually fall out as the weeks go by but I'll get to enjoy it while it lasts!

THREE // Fair Isle Cardigan
A few years ago, I fell in love with the Hill House Ren cardigan in a few different Fair Isle colourways. I wasn't sure what size would work and they were very pricey. I passed at the moment but they have been on my mind ever since. Fast-forward to the revival of Ricki's this fall and lo and behold, they had the perfect replica of my beloved sweater! I almost couldn't believe my eyes and had to inspect it closely to confirm that it was in fact different and not just unsold Hill House stock. It's almost an identical match! I took advantage of a sale and treated myself. I've worn it a few times and love the colours so much. The burgundy, blush, black and hint of rust make for such a perfect colour palette. It's a sweater I can wear from fall to spring without any issues. The fact it's a cardigan makes it a great layering option and gives it more versatility that a pullover. I'm so happy I was patient because, in this case, it paid off!

FOUR // Fresh Pup Cut
It's been a very grooming kind of week as the dog was also due for her regular grooming. It was perfectly timed as the wet snow we've been having lately meant that her regular outdoor breaks have her coming back with paws and legs full of tiny snowballs. This can be a bit challenging but shorter fur will definitely help. A hair cut also means the dog relies even more on her knitwear. Lucky for her we treated her to a brand new sweater, this cute navy tartan with white and red accents. It's so perfect for her! I wanted a sweater option that would last throughout the winter and not just the Christmas season, she's already got plenty of options for that! How cute does she look freshly groomed in her new sweater?

FIVE // Brown Leggings
I realize this is not the most exciting thing to post about, but here we go! I snagged these brown leggings on sale and was thrilled because they are the same ones as my burnt orange ones and I love those so much. They are buttery soft and so comfortable! I've been trying to vary the colours of leggings to have some warmer tones better suited for fall and winter. I've got plenty of black, grey and blue but I was lacking orange and brown. So, here we are! Brown has been added to the rotation and it's right at home!
