Mimi Takes Five - #385

ONE // White Christmas
It's been a true white Christmas this year. We got plenty of snow as December went on and it made for a beautiful white backdrop. I've always loved a snowy Christmas and growing up in Northern Ontario, it was usually the case. I'm a winter girl at heart and it just feels right that Christmas be snowy. During our Christmas break, my siblings and I would spend countless hours playing in the snow. We had our private hill in the field to go sledding on and we would go every chance we got! Then we'd come in with rosy cheeks and snuggle by the fire in the basement to watch Christmas movies (and eat all the cookies my mom baked!) It was such an idyllic way to spend Christmases as a kid. I look back on those memories with such fondness and that is perhaps one of the reasons I love snow for Christmas, it takes me back!

TWO // Sequin Shorts
I think the most fun piece of festive clothing I bought this year are these black sequin shorts! I mean, I'm a big fan of a sequin skirt, but shorts is a category I never thought of to add sequins to. I think these are great, such a unique piece! I love that they are fully lined, giving them a bit more substance. I also love that the base fabric on which the sequins are sewn is velvet. The luxe factor is real! I find the shimmer against such a rich fabric makes for a perfect combination. They are very comfortable to wear. The only thing I'd point out is that if your thighs touch, the sequins rub a bit, so not ideal. I also find that when worn with tights, you need to adjust the lining when you first put on the shorts. Overall, these were such a whimsical, impulse buy that I don't see myself ever regretting. I don't think I'm the only one because these babies sold out quickly.

THREE // Dreame Vacuum
My husband and I decided we weren't going to go all out with gifts for one another this year. Instead, we decided to gift ourselves a self-vacuuming robot. I know, we are very late to the party on this one! I don't know why I resisted for so long, but my husband has been talking about it for a while now. So he researched everything and landed on the Dreame D20 for its dual vacuum and mopping options. We've had it for a couple weeks now and only used it for vacuuming so far. It's pretty great! It mapped out the room and does a very systematic route to cover the entire surface. The app shows you the exact trajectory, it's quite impressive! It'll take some getting used to having a little vacuum moving around. I think it's best to start it when you're not in the room and for our entire main floor it takes about 40 minutes, which is not bad. I'll still have to bust out the big Dyson to do a thorough job and move the furniture, but this little robot will do the trick in between. I think the one struggling the most with this new gadget is the dog. She's not a fan of this little self-moving object and follows it around barking at it. Another good reason to start it when no one is in the room, ha ha!

FOUR // Hot Chocolate Float
I've been making myself this warm beverage concoction for years now and turn to it every Christmas. I'm a big hot chocolate person so always have some on hand during the cold season. Nothing beats the comfort of a warm chocolatey beverage. What I do that is more festive is I add a scoop of candy cane ice cream to the mix and turn it into a festive float! My products of choice are the PC candy cane ice cream and the PC hot chocolate mix. It's a perfect combination! It makes the hot chocolate creamy with just the right amount of peppermint. This drink with a Christmas movie = combination on repeat all season long!

FIVE // Statement Bow
I know I featured this bow recently (along with my other festive bows) but wanted to show it worn. For a bow on which I hesitate for a while, I have to say it's quickly becoming one of my favourite hair bows of all time. I mean, the richness of the satin in person is simply divine and the overall feel of the gigantic bow makes it statement worthy. I mean, you couldn't get a more festive bow if you tried. I feel like a big present every time I wear it! I'm so thrilled I decided to give this style a try and keep trying to find occasions and excuses to wear it. I mean, my birthday and Valentine's day are right around the corner, so I just might have other imminent opportunities to wear my new favourite bow.
