ONE // Puppy Hoodie
We went to Homesense the other day and my husband spotted this pastel striped dog hoodie. It was an immediate add-to-cart! At this point, we have an entire closet of colourful sweaters for the dog, but there will never be enough. She wears them all the time and I couldn't resist the perfection of this pastel striped hoodie. It's a lighter weight fabric, making it a great option for this time of year. I like having lighter options because thick knit sweaters are a bit much for milder spring weather. Also, the adorableness factor is what really sold me on this one! I can't resist a good rainbow stripe, ha ha! I'm pretty sure I have a Breton striped top in a similar colourway... Also, the beige base colour pops so beautifully against her dark fur. She's just so stinking cute, I can't!
TWO // Powder Blue Trench
This is my new favourite coat! I'm a trench coat girl through and through, have been wearing the classic beige style for years - such a timeless wardrobe staple. I will always favour a beige trench coat, especially in the spring. There is no better option in my book. That being said, I fell for this powder blue trench the other day. There's something so fresh and unexpected about it. Seeing as it's a trench coat, I knew I'd get plenty of wear out of the style. However, I'm pleasantly pleased by how much I'm loving the light blue hue! I've been wearing it on repeat and think it's such a fun piece to style for spring. I tend to wear a lot of pastels this time of year, so my blue trench is working with a lot of outfits. Who knew a blue trench would be my closet MVP?
THREE // Boot Hand-Sanitizer Holder
I love yellow rain gear. Give me a yellow rain coat or yellow rubber boots any day and I'll be a happy girl. Just as I was on the hunt for a more springtime hand sanitizer holder for my purse, I came across this perfect yellow boot option. It really couldn't be more perfect for me from the yellow of the boot, to the gingham trim and bunch of flowers peaking out the top. I rushed over the store and was so happy they had them in stock. My new boot is right at home on my purse and is a perfect match to my outfit on rainy days. I'm not mad about that!
FOUR // Mortar and Pestle
Some kitchen tools are as old as time and with good reason. No need to reinvent the wheel! One of those timeless and very useful kitchen tools is the mortar and pestle. There is nothing better to grind, crush and mix into powders and pastes. We used to have a set back in the day but it's one of the things we never got around to replacing until this past week. I found myself thinking a few times recently how that would be the perfect tool for the job (like crushing tea leaves and lavender for a recipe...) So, we set out to find a replacement and Homesense delivered. It had not even been in the house for 10 minutes before my husband was using it to grind fresh herbs to make a paste for dinner. Using one makes me feel like a mad scientist or like a healer in the olden days à la Claire Fraser. Such an underrated kitchen tool!
FIVE // Foot Care
I tend to stick with a product when I find a good one. That is the case with The Body Shop's foot care range. I give myself at-home pedicures once a month and have sworn by their pumice scrub for years. I love the peppermint scent and the fine pumice is a great exfoliator without being too harsh. I also love the peppermint foot cream. Nothing, and I mean, nothing works as well on tired and dry feet than this lotion. I've tried and lot and this is the winner. Between the running, walking and tap dancing (not to mention I love being barefoot in the house), my poor feet get a beating and require a little maintenance. My heels tend to crack and I get all sorts of blisters on my toes (running and tap dancing will do that...) In order to care for my tired and beat-up feet, I give myself a bit of a foot massage before bed with the foot lotion and pop on some socks to keep the moisture in. The cooling peppermint is so soothing it turns the ritual into a bit of aromatherapy too. This is my go-to foot care duo and has been for years.
