White This Way

There is nothing like a crisp white dress! This one has really cute detailing at the shoulders and it adds just the right amount of interest. I paired it with a green cardigan and simple espadrilles for an easy-breezy summer look. This dress could easily be dressed-up for a more formal occasion by removing the cardigan and switching out the footwear for a more dressy option. Add on some statement earrings and you are ready for that cocktail hour!

Sun Ready

Today is the first really hot day of summer, like instant-stickiness when you go outside. I figured it would be the perfect time to wear my new dress! I recently purchased it in my favourite little boutique on one of our day trips. This little white dress is so light and airy it doesn't stick to me. It just skims the body, which means it will keep me cool in the heat! I kept the accessories to a minimum, as the dress stands out really well against my summer colouring. I decided on baby blue shoes and earrings with a delicate pastel bracelet. I don't want to be weighed down by heavy jewelry in the heat either, not fun. I put my hair up and added a cute little flower clip to give it that tropical feel. A light dress, minimal jewelry and a floral accessory make for the perfect hot day look!

Tamed Heart

This sweater's got panache! I fell in love with its quirky-ness. I love the calming nature of the baby blue and white. I also like that it's a simple heart shape, like so many other sweaters, but that the bejeweled antlers add a touch of whimsy! There is also an inside joke behind it. My hair is fine and has a tendency to curl into little ringlets around my face when it's humid out, creating a similar effect to that of antlers, and my better half likes to point out my "panache" (a French word for antlers) any chance he gets! I chose to wear my sweater over a dress to give the illusion of a skirt, but with the extra layer of warmth underneath. This is a very practical and clever trick to wear your summer dresses all year round. Add a sweater, some tights and voilà!

LWD (Little White Dress)

You've all heard of the little black dress, right? Well, did you know there was such a thing as the little white dress? There sure is! I think everyone should own a LWD for very similar reasons everyone should own a LBD. It is a wardrobe staple that is easy to style, is versatile and is a fresh take on a classic, not to mention great for hotter temps! I chose a fit and flare silhouette with mesh panels at the armholes. This is definitely a staple worth splurging on, but keep in mind that if you are spending a bit more, opt for a cut that is more timeless to get the most out of your garment. The dress I'm wearing can be considered a splurge, but I got it on mega sale, which means I got an investment piece without breaking the bank! I accessorized with a lot of silver and added cobalt shoes and nails to give it a bit more pizzazz.
