ONE // Camping

We went on one last camping trip as a last hurrah to summer. We tried a new Provincial Park - Windy Lake. I have to say, I loved this park. The sites were nice and big and well spaced out. You really felt like you were more into the woods and had your own space. The comfort station was one of the cleanest I'd seen and I appreciated the garbage and recycling station right next to it. Makes things easier on a day-to-day basis. I absolutely loved the beach, which was very long and included a play structure for kids. However, I liked even more that there was a designated dog beach. Having a dog, this made going to the beach a much better experience. The only downside of this park is that there is a train track going through it and it's rather busy with trains sounding their horns. It's not a deal breaker for me, but I can see it being a nuisance for some. We chose this park to make it easy for family to drop by for a campfire or beach afternoon, so that was really great. There is something special about the nature in Northern Ontario!

TWO // The Paper - Season 2

September is not only back-to-school, it also marks the start of fresh TV shows! After the summer hiatus, lots of shows are hitting our screens once more and the excitement just feeds into that back-to-school, back-to-the-routine vibes. I remember when all the after school  and primetime shows would start up again on week nights, especially TGIF. Better times, I tell you. The first show on my radar is The Paper. We got the full second season on Wednesday! How's that for a treat? I was only expecting weekly releases, but we got the entire thing in one go. This fills my binge-watching heart with love. I'm a big fan of The Office (the show The Paper is a spin-off of), and enjoyed Season 1. However, it was not on the same level as my love for The Office. That being said, I am looking forward to Season 2 because I remember that The Office was struggling a bit in its first season too. Either way, I'm sure I'll enjoy this season and will try to pace myself when watching it. 

 

THREE // Brown Cardigan

Just when I think my cardigan collection is complete, I find another one to add to it... Honestly, though, my cardigans get a lot of wear and some have been around for a very long time. I wear this garment all year round and it really is the perfect  lightweight layering piece that works for the office or some down time. It's easy, elegant and timeless. A solid-coloured cardigan will last you a lifetime. Turns out I didn't have a chocolate-brown option and when I saw this version, I was sold. I like that this one has a little something extra in the braided knit detailing. It's subtle but adds a nice layer of interest. I plan on wearing it often this fall! I must be an adult now because I get excited at the prospect of wearing brow, ha ha!

FOUR // Candy Haul

My husband took me to a cute specialty candy shop in North Bay and it was the best! I'm a big candy person. I've always loved sour gummies in particular and like discovering new candy to try. My current obsessions are Squashies, Haribo and Sweedish candy. I've been eating Squashies for quite a while now and have gotten to try most flavours. However, some still eluded me. Until now! This store was the holy grail of Squashies so I got a few that had been on my list for a while now - Rhubarb & Custard, Strawberry & Cream, Tropical and the Mixed Fruit. I also got some Sour Shooting Stars even though I'd already tried those. I also recently got my hands on some Cherry Cola Squashies and they were delicious. I then turned my attention to the Sweedish candy and got some sour Tutti-Frutti Diamonds and some Bubs Dizzy Skulls - two top-tier flavours. I also got some Haribo sour balla bites. I love the regular so think the sours would be great too. Finally, I got a few UK treats with the Dairy Milk (for comparison purposes to our Canadian version) and some Jelly Babies. This candy comes up a lot on Coronation Street so I've been curious about them. So there you have it, a very lucrative candy store run!

FIVE // Fall Body Wash

It wouldn't be fall if I wasn't using a fall-scented body wash from Bath & Body Works, now, would it? This year's choice is Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin. It's a perfect warm, comforting, autumnal scent. If a PSL was in body wash form, this is what it would smell like. I'm a big olfactory person and find seasonal scents play a big role in my enjoyment of the seasons. Fall wouldn't be fall without all the warm spicy aromas. It's often an overlooked part of decorating yet, to me, it's an essential part of the full experience. It's subtle enough that most people won't consciously notice it, but they will feel it. All that to say, my love of scents extends to my showers and this is the selection for fall!
