Back to School

Happy September 1st! This can only mean one thing - it's time for my annual back-to-school look! For some reason, this is a post I look forward to every year and is probably the only one I've consistently done every year since I started posting them in 2018. That's a long time! I love this time of year so much and September 1st feels more like the start of a new year than January 1st does to me. I still work on a campus, so I do feel the buzz and excitement of the start of a new academic year. It's so palpable! It also marks the start of my favourite season, so I think it's just the perfect storm of all things I love and look forward to.

This year, I leaned more into the yesteryear vibes. I was inspired by my love of Anne of Green Gables and opted for a muted colour palette with blush and burgundy accents. The ruffled collar blouse paired with the ribbon brooch really gives off Edwardian style and I just had to add a straw boater hat to finish things off. The plaid pleated skirt is a more modern touch, along with the shoes and tote, but they are classic style elements associated with academia. All in all, this look is very different from what I've worn in the past, but I'm loving it all the same.
