Fall Country Nuptials

We went to a wedding in mid-September and it was in the most gorgeous location! It was a country affair with an outdoor ceremony and the reception was in a barn. This setting totally appealed to my farm-girl roots!

I had originally planned on wearing more layers because September can be a bit tricky and this was to be outdoors. Usually the ever-prepared guest, I pick out my outfit weeks before the wedding. Well, the outfit I had planned on wearing was totally the wrong fit because the day of was scorching! I found myself scrambling to put together a last-minute look. This was very anxiety inducing to say the least. I was mentally scrolling through my closet while in the shower and remembered this cute trapeze dress from the spring collaboration of ELLE Québec and RW&CO. It is perfectly light and breezy (good for the heat), not too dressy (good for the laid-back setting) and has fun layers (good for partying). This dress really checked-off all the right boxes. Because the lining is a light shade of pink, I accessorized with pink earrings, my pink velvet clutch and burgundy shades. I also made sure to wear chunky heels because: grass. I even went as far as bringing a suede jacket for the cooler evening and was happy I did. It's crazy how much the temperature drops when the sun goes down. All in all, I was very pleased with my last-minute styling, but will definitely not make a habit of it. Next time, I will be sure to have outfit choices for all the different weather possibilities. Think of it as the Scouting of fashion!
