How could I not wear orange in October? My sartorial dressing style requires me to do so. This is a subtle hint to the season and the upcoming holiday. I find I get more into the spirit of things when I dress for them. It's as simple as that. Sort of like forcing yourself to smile in order to cheer yourself up, except not quite as dramatic. I opted for a simple layered look and chose to wear my orange knit sweater. I normally colour match my looks pretty perfectly, but I tried something different today. You see, there is actually no orange in the plaid shirt. There are however red and yellow and I find that by adding the orange sweater, I trick the eye into seeing this shade in the plaid as well. It's just a little thing I like to refer to as the magic of styling! That's the beauty of wearing prints, they offer so many styling opportunities, and to be honest, I just find them more fun! I also like mixing them and added a second plaid to the look with the scarf (this one actually has orange in it). I don't normally mix two plaids, but I figured these two would get along. What is the point of so-called fashion rules if you don't break them every once in a while?
Shirt: Old Navy (also love this, this, and this) | Sweater: Old Navy (similar style, different colour) | Jeans: Jordache | Earrings: Don't Ask | Booties: Old Navy | Scarf: Zara (similar) | Jacket: BLANKNYC
