I love wearing navy as a neutral in an outfit. I find it less stern than black, but a solid foundation nonetheless. These sailor shorts are perfect for layering with tights for fall (and maybe mild winter days.) I chose matching navy tights today for cohesiveness. However, because the shade of navy in the shorts is dark, I would not hesitate to wear black tights either, keeping in mind it would create more contrast. I was inspired by the gold buttons to wear my mustard striped shirt! It's such a perfect shade for fall and pairing it with navy warms it up even more and prevents it from being too harsh (like it would against black.) I added metallic booties because I like the pop of shimmer! Truth be told, is was hot and muggy today (very unusual for this time of year) so I threw on a my colour-block cape, but had to take it off in the bus because it was one layer too many. This look is a perfect fall option, but today's weather was more like summer than fall. I'm hoping it switches back soon...
