Mimi Takes Five - #238

ONE // Lilac Sweater
I'd been wanting a lilac sweater for a little while now and finally found the perfect one! This sweater has an embossed polka dot texture and bubble sleeves, I mean, it was meant for me! Not only will it be a great sweater to wear now, this colour will transition well into spring. The best part is that it's a perfect match for my newest Nap Dress in lilac gingham. I just love it when things come together flawlessly. This means I can start wearing my dress from here on out and not have to wait for warmer climate. Always thinking about that cost-per-wear!

TWO // Grace & Grandeur Easter Bows
Speaking of lilac... Grace & Grandeur (my all-time favourite hair bow company) is launching very limited edition bows for Easter in the most perfect shades of lilac and lemon! I knew the minutes she teased the lilac one on Instagram that I desperately needed it. It's too perfect and, now that I am amping up lilac in my wardrobe, it was a requirement. I can't wait for it to come in and to style it with all my lilac pieces for spring. Prepare yourselves for a lot of lilac coming your way!

THREE // Turtleneck Duo
Here I go again with the solid-coloured turtlenecks... I was on a mission to beef up my turtleneck stash and succeeded with flying colours. My latest (and likely last for a while) are this raspberry pink and forest green. These are from RW&CO and are some of my favourites for layering as they are thin, making them perfect option for spring and fall. I think I managed to amass enough variety of turtlenecks to go with all of my Nap Dresses. This is one of the ways I manage to get more wear out of my dresses in the colder months and I'm a big fan. Turtlenecks add warmth and interest without adding bulk. I also love wearing them under my knit sweaters for the same reasons, but they also help prolong the freshness of your sweaters and protect them from too much washing. Basically, turtlenecks are great and the limit of how many one can own does not exist. Consider this your sign to stock up!

FOUR // February Ipsy
My February glam bag has arrived and it's a good one! I find this particular product line-up covers all bases. What I mean by that is that within one bag I got facial care products (am and pm), make-up and hair care. That rarely happens, but it's great when it does. The best part is that I like every single product too! I mean, this was a standout bag for sure. I'll start with the face products; the toner is nice and light, the serum is very moisturizing and fast-absorbing and the daytime moisturizer has a great consistency and applies well (even though I'm not the biggest fan of the scent). Next up, makeup. The dual eye shadow is a great colour palette for my dark brown eyes. Although it's gold, the shimmer is quite subtle and actually perfect for daytime. I added the brown liner to the look and it all works very well. I'm a black cat-eye liner kind of girl, but like to use a brown liner every now and then to tone down the drama. I would, however, still like a bit more pigment in the brown liner. The red liquid lipstick is a real knockout! It applies well, has good staying power and is a great shade of red (Cherry Bomb). I'm partial to a red lipstick and this one is a keeper! Moving on to hair. This volumizing spray is somewhere between a dry shampoo and a texture powder. I applied it to my roots, shook it out a bit and seems to do the job. The only downside is I do not like the scent. It's too strong for my liking... The final product is the Elemis night cream. I have yet to try it, but I've only heard great things from this brand so am really looking forward to it and have high hopes.

FIVE // Moody Mani
I felt a jolt of inspiration this week and gave myself an old-school manicure. I opted for a deep teal and accented one nail on each hand in a glitter gold polish. I used to do this two-toned approach all the time, but hadn't done it in years. It feels a little retro at this point and I'm actually really loving it. This colour combo is really great for spring and is giving off (slight) Saint Patrick's Day vibes. Just saying... I used the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polish in Game of Chromes and the Sundays polish in No. 35. I did two coats of polish, then finished off with a clear top coat.
