ONE // Fresh Hair
About once a year, I like to get my full colour refreshed. It takes a bit longer but is so worth it. Over time, my colour fades. I don't mind the warmer shade it gets when faded, but it does make getting just my roots done a bit trickier. I like to time it just before fall because I find the summer to be the most damaging to my hair. The sun, the humidity, the sweat; they all have an impact. So, I did just that the other day at the salon. I got my roots done and the colour pulled through the rest of my length to even it out. I'm always shocked by how much darker it looks! That's when you really notice just how much it had faded. It's gradual, so not always noticeable, but totally worth getting the refresh. Now, I'm back to my moodier hair colour just in time for fall. That was not done accidentally.
TWO // Brown Straw Hat
I've got a very decent straw hat collection and get lots of wear out of them. While I've got most silhouettes and colours, I had yet to find a brown straw hat I liked. I had been on the lookout for a few summers now. And then, when riding the escalator at Simons during one of my lunch breaks, I spotted this beauty on the rack! I immediately went over to try it on and it was an instant purchase. It's the perfect shade of brown, has a wide brim like I like and the icing on the cake is the black lace ribbon tie. I mean, it's perfect in every way! I've only worn it a handful of times but that's because it's the ideal hat for that end-of-summer and into-fall transition! A summer accessory in a fall colour, I mean, it's just the thing for me. I'll bring it along on our final camping trip/cottage stay of the summer and I think it's the ideal choice of hatwear for the occasion.
THREE // Cookie Dough Creamer
I have been searching high and low for my Pumpkin Spice coffee creamer with no luck. It's odd. These past few years, it was available in early August... I'm hoping it's still on the way because I cannot live without it come fall! In the meantime, I settled on this new-to-me flavour - Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. It's sounded perfectly decadent and I thought I'd give it a try while I wait for my holy grain to hit the shelves. It tastes exactly like cookie dough! I've had my fair share of cookie dough batter samples and this flavour is spot on. It makes for a sweet coffee, but that's how I like it. If sweet treats are your thing, this might be the coffee creamer for you!
FOUR // Deep Clean
I've been struggling to get through the big deep clean of the house this year. I started later than I wanted to, so now everything feels a bit more rushed. I like to do a thorough deep clean of each square inch of the house and try to tackle it one room at a time. Sounds doable, but when you start adding up the time, it's a big project. Most of my summer weekends during which we were home, and had no other plans, were spent deep cleaning. I was doing alright - had completed all bathrooms and bedrooms so the upper floor was done. Tackling the main floor is more daunting as it's just one big room... I woke up last Saturday morning with the intention of doing the living/dining room. I moved every bit of furniture, washed walls, light fixtures, windows, floors and then some. Not a corner was left behind. It took me all day and I was exhausted by the end of it. But I'm so glad it's done! That was a big chunk. Next up is the kitchen, which is its own type of challenge. The end is in sight!
FIVE // HP Back on the Big Screen
Seeing as it's the 25th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film, one of the big events for Back to Hogwarts this year is a real treat. The movies will be back in theatres for a limited time! Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone will also have an extra 12 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage, how cool is that? Seeing this movie the night it released in theatres 25 years ago is one of my best cinema memories ever. The excitement was palpable and I would love to relive that happy memory. Unfortunately, the timing is not working for me. Be sure to check out your local theatre listings to get the chance to experience Harry Potter on the big screen once more or for the first time.
