I wouldn't normally think of pairing purple with cognac, but I think the combination is a perfect one for late summer/early fall. I don't wear much brown during the summer, it's just not a colour I gravitate towards during that season, preferring bright and bold hues. However, in the run up to fall, I start craving those darker, moodier shades and cognac is a mainstay. In trying to find ways of maximizing the cost-per-wear for my cognac gingham dress, I've been challenging myself to style it for summer. I'm having to really flex the creativity muscle because my reflex is to pair cognac with rust, mustard, navy and the like. I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it goes with this bright purple!
