I Dot You Babe

Polka dots will forever be one of my favourite prints! It's classic, timeless and whimsical! What more could you ask for? I pulled out my big print polka dot fit and flare dress and kept it simple by sticking to the monochromatic palette. I am also a bit fan of black and white looks. I'm not sure why, I just seem to subconsciously wear them a lot... A cropped cardigan is the perfect cut to complete the dress and simple black wedges are as classic as the print! This dress just makes me smile. I feel like a kid again when I wear it: so happy and carefree!

TBT - French Af-flare

A Canadian girl in Paris... I wish! Just a Canadian girl pretending to be in the City of Lights! I can dream, perhaps one day I'll be walking down the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. For now, I will settle with dressing à la française! Simple, classic and elegant are a few words that describe the French way of dressing. I chose a classic black pencil skirt and paired it with a striped top and white cardigan. I added a hint of personal style with the bold waist belt. Simple black heeled-boots finished off the look. I think my monochromatic look hit all the right notes! Perhaps I could even switch out the cardigan for a cropped white bouclé blazer. That would be sure to make Coco Chanel proud!

I've Dot a Feeling

Ok, so this look has me mixing a whole bunch of styles, from touches of rockabilly to classic monochromatic. Let's start with the very timeless black midi skirt, add a plain white tee and simple black cropped cardigan. So far, I've stuck to tried and true styles, combined in a classic look. To take things up a notch, I added the ever-so-trendy velvet bralette over the shirt and tied a black and white polka-dot bandana scarf around my neck. Pull on vintage off-black nylons, trusty black booties and hit the ground running! I know I've got a lot going on here, but by sticking to a monochromatic palette, I let the individual pieces speak for themselves without it turning into an incomprehensible babble!

TBT - Batting Lashes

I wore this blush pleated midi skirt a few years back. I love how it is high-waisted and allows for a bit of creativity with proportions. I paired it with a cropped black eyelash sweater and a cute little bow belt. I added some major bling and black boots to finish off the look. I love the balance of black and blush and the colour combination reminds me of my dancing days... The idea of styling my hair in a bun probably stemmed from that nostalgia. This outfit is a perfect example of how to wear pastels in the cooler months. Pairing them with black gives them that slightly more edgy feel without making them look out of place.

Maxed Out

When I wear something, I like to wear it to the max! Well, ok, maybe not all the time. But when I decide I'm going to wear something to the max, I go all out! This dress is so bold and colourful with its tropical print it screams summer! A bold print, on a maxi dress, makes for a really stand-out piece. I decided to infuse a bit of drama by adding a black cropped cardigan and black sandals. The print is still the centre of the show, but the black sets it off just right. I finished off with jewel toned jewelry that pick up on the golden and purple hues of the print. A bit a fun, a bit of glam and a bit of drama make for a maxed out look!
