Al-lure-ing

I was planning on wearing a different version of this look today, but added tights and a sweater at the last minute and switched out the sandals for rubber boots as it was raining. Thankfully, I was able to adapt my look today as opposed to switching it out completely. That's a small victory in my book! I was so excited to bust out these bold tassel earrings. That was until my better half astutely pointed out that he could catch a big mackerel with them... I gave him the "unimpressed" look. Despite the fact they might look like fishing tackle, I still like them! I'll be sure to keep them on lock down to ensure they don't end up in a certain someone's tackle box... I really do appreciate his perspective on my looks!

Floral the Stripe Reasons

A little print-mixing never hurt anyone. I went for a bold combination today by pairing my striped dress with a floral blazer. I added hints of purple and fuchsia to tie the whole look together. A simple jersey dress can easily be dressed up with a structured jacket. Be daring and mix patterns and colours to keep things fresh and unexpected! Get more wear out of your off-duty sun-dresses by adding a layer to make them office-appropriate. A little clothing math is all you need to maximize the wear of your favourite pieces!

Boho Babe

With summer finally here, maxi dresses are my go-to! They are so easy to wear and are light and breezy, perfect for staying cool on those sunny days. Today's dress is actually a tube-top style so I decided to get creative and layered a lace t-shirt over it for extra coverage. I then decided to tie the neck-tie in front of my neck to give it the look of a lariat. It's like a built-in necklace! I'm quite proud of myself for styling it this way! I had never thought of tying it like this before, but will definitely experiment with it some more. A dress with a built-in accessory? Now that is something I can wrap my mind around!

Retro Flair

I get so many compliments every time I wear this dress. I guess it has that wow-factor! It certainly caught my eye in the shop! I am a sucker for polka-dots and, combined with the retro style of this dress, it was hard to resist such a find. I seriously can't help styling it with retro touches, it's so hard to resist the temptation! Today, I opted to add pops of red with a bow-belt and cardigan. The red lips was a no-brainer and I have to admit that the blond curls are a nice touch. I don't know why, but to me, blond curls are very retro and a little bit pin-up. The fact that I am now blond just makes wearing this dress even more fun. I will challenge myself to style it in a modern-way next time, but I can't make any promises!

TBT - Blue Moon

Today's look is a basic one. I wasn't feeling too, too inspired that morning. I knew I'd be walking around a lot, so I wanted something comfortable and practical. I wore baby blue pants with a grey t-shirt and accessorized with black flats and a light grey fringe bag. It was simple, but functional. Sometimes, that's all you can really hope to achieve with a look. Today was one of those days...

Friday Frills

We've been getting a cooler day every now and then, so sometimes I have to change my outfit at the last minute (not an easy task for this organizer-extraordinaire). This weather, I tell you! Anyways, I was also running a tad late today, so I simply reached for the jeans on top of the pile, the sweater on top of the box and the scarf that was sitting on my dresser. Tie a quick pony, slap on the minimal make-up and run out the door. As the day went on, I actually got to appreciate the last-minute look and was pleasantly pleased with it. It was perfect for the weather and fit the bill of casual Friday. Not bad for someone who usually has her outfit planned to a T. I won't be making a habit of this, because I simply cannot deal with the level of stress involved! Yes, sometimes I run late and it's good to know I am able to put something together at the last minute, but I don't enjoy this process. Maybe I'll start planning a back-up look for those unpredictable-weather days...

Blue Times Two

When looking for cute and affordable off-the-clock clothing, I look no further than Old Navy. They always have a great selection of basic tees in solid colours and a variety of go-to shorts in every print and colour. The combination possibilities are endless and they won't break the bank. What more could you ask for you summer weekend clothing options? I'm not sure how many pairs of shorts I own, but I can guarantee at least 75 % of them are from Old Navy. What can I say? They just don't disappoint! The fact that this store always has amazing deals is just a bonus really. Are there any other Old Navy lovers out there?

P.S. This post is not sponsored, I just really like Old Navy.

Coral a Flutter

When the beautiful sunshine from the weekend decides to hide away on the Monday, you reach for jeans and a cheery top. I decided on the long pants because it was a little cool and wet and added a coral flutter-sleeve top to stay in the summer spirit. I added some rose gold accessories and gold flats. This was a particularly hard Monday morning to face as it was gloomy and rainy, plus I had a dentist's appointment... Let's just say my motivation was on Garfield level. Not every day starts off well. When I feel like this, I remind myself of Annie's pick-me-up line: The sun'll come out tomorrow!

Summer Lovin'

Oh the joy of sunny days on the weekends! Summer, I am ready for you and your warm embrace! On this particular day, I went for an early morning run and amused myself by counting all the yard sales I ran by. There were quite a few! Afterwards, I had a quick shower and got ready to go run a few errands. It was so nice, I decided to skip the blow-dry and let my hair air dry in the car. The joys of having a moon-roof! So I apologize for the less than perfect mane. For the outfit, I simply grabbed shorts and a t-shirt. No need to overcomplicate things. I also like carrying around a big tote for all the summer essentials: sunglasses, wallet, water bottle, etc. I also like the fact I can throw a whole bunch of other things in there depending on the agenda for the day. I find it so much easier getting out of the house in the summer, it's less of a production outfit-wise.

P.S. Shop my look! All the items I am wearing are still available in stores. Click on the links below!

The Sky's The Limit

Unlike yesterday, today my head is clearly up in the clouds! My outfit is inspired by the shinning sun and blues skies above. This golden mustard cardigan with pink sequins truly reflects the bright summer sun while the light blue pants are totally summer worthy. Add matching gold flats and finish off with a hint of print for added dimension. This palette totally has me swooning over what the summer has in store. Those feel-good vibes were flying high today!
