Retro Flair

I get so many compliments every time I wear this dress. I guess it has that wow-factor! It certainly caught my eye in the shop! I am a sucker for polka-dots and, combined with the retro style of this dress, it was hard to resist such a find. I seriously can't help styling it with retro touches, it's so hard to resist the temptation! Today, I opted to add pops of red with a bow-belt and cardigan. The red lips was a no-brainer and I have to admit that the blond curls are a nice touch. I don't know why, but to me, blond curls are very retro and a little bit pin-up. The fact that I am now blond just makes wearing this dress even more fun. I will challenge myself to style it in a modern-way next time, but I can't make any promises!

Feeling Petti

Another day, another dress! I'm turning back the clock a bit with this one. I absolutely love the vintage feel! The polka dots, the exaggerated lapels and the full skirt are all reminiscent of the 50's. I feel I gave it a bit more of a 60's flair today by paring it with a panama hat, nude wedges and a straw bag. I feel like this is an outfit that would have been seen aboard a Panam flight back in the day... Part of me wishes air travel could go back to its glamorous roots. Nowadays, it's all about the leggings and comfortable clothing to squeeze into the less-than spacious seats. I wish people still dressed to the nines for travelling. I don't know why it ever changed, I'm all about dressing for an occasion. Oh well, maybe it will come back in style at some point. Here's to hoping!

Vintage Pin-Up

(Cue jazz music here.) I absolutely could not resist this little number when I saw it. I'm a sucker for polka dots and this dress was too perfect to pass up! The corn-flower blue and white lapel collar spoke to me. I just had to wear it with chunky pearls, espadrilles and a white waist belt. The hair is in a nice chignon and the lips as red as can be! I felt like a cross between Betty Draper from Mad Men and Lucille Ball. I felt right at home in this outfit. I swear I was born in the wrong decade!
